Received some more parts today and a tap. I don't know why I keep breaking the lower shock and shock bolt, this is maybe the fifth time. I even removed the 6" lift and it keeps breaking. The first time I understand it broke because I left the ground out in the sand dunes and came down hard. After that I replaced the lower control arm, bolt, and shock because I could not find a drill bit stronger than the bolt (drill bit kept breaking) and acetylene lit the cv boot on fire...bolt did not move. Control arm bushing replaced, body/frame bushings replaced, sway bar link replaced. Hole tapped and new bolt installed. Bolts are $30 each everytime. =(

If it makes ya feel better, both my old shocks did the same thing, on the highway no less lol

It was a bouncy couple of days until I put the new shocks in

I tried to sand the license plate lamp assemblies but could not reach the inside. I used a Dremel, various stick with sand paper, etc. I then tried to remove the assembly lens with a heat gun but they just cracked. It is already hot enough out here so they were brittle. I then installed new LED lights with ballast resistors.

you got proof the only difference is one extra leaf.. because everything ive seen in person , there is no difference in the 1500 mc and 2500 rear leaf packs..
Maybe it was the thickness of the leaf packs itself because the gvcw is lower on the 1/2 tons. I couldn’t find any information by searching different sites and from the manufacturer, so all the info is passed on to me through here buy comparison with other gen 3 mc owners. Also, there is a 290#gvw difference between 1/2 and 3/4 ton on the 06-08 mc’s. I was looking for the differences for a long time and couldn’t find anything or why they even call them 1500’s when they have all 2500 parts, so I’m still not sure bud. If you have any info on it please pass it along. Thnx.

I installed the green awful powder coated rims my son picked out :).

19f92abc85f198eb252e1dfe7ef2cf70.jpg

The black wheel acorn nuts I picked out not fit.

Amazon said they were the correct ones but they were too small

The specs of the ones I purchased were:

1/2" Thread Size
Acorn Bulge Black Chrome
13/16" Hex

Any idea what the correct size is?

Thanks

I improved the air quality of my truck... Ran some Lysol and HVAC cleaner through the system. It smells a hell of a lot better, the cigarette smoke scent is almost completely gone.

I know we discussed this a bit to figure out what, if any difference there is between our Rigs. Here’s a post I came across while searching, https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen-ram-tech/116945-mega-cab-1500-vs-2500-a.html. In a nutshell it says the only difference is the badging. Sorry my friend for not sharing this information with you sooner.

@svtnos

Nothing to be sorry for brother, I gave up searching for answers a while ago but now, no thanx to you lol, I’ll be on the hunt for a 2500 owner by me and see if I can get him to run to the scales with me real quick, because now I’m really intrigued by the link you sent, saying it’s only the door sticker. Something is fishy about this truck for Chrysler to not have or not want to give any info and why they would sell the EXACT same truck for LESS money is just mind boggling.

In jersey, my 1500mc is inspection exempt because it’s older than 07 and over 8601# but my registration says it’s only 6600#, the door sticker says 8610#gvw so I made the exemption by 9 lbs. I know from our older conversations that your sticker says 8900#. Something ain’t right, why is my registration saying 6600 lbs but the inspection and motor Vehicle Commission says it’s exempt by the vin. This whole thing stinks and if I get a ticket for their ******, I’ll be super pissed! Thnx for the link and I’ll update with any info I come up with. Btw, nice pics on your coast trip, hope you and fam had fun and all went well. Off I go down an endless rabbit hole, AGAIN lol.

@SYKRAMMAN I think the legality of the number is due to the badging and VIN. If FCA claims it’s a 1500 regardless of what’s under the body then there’s no way to have the payload numbers match a 2500. It may have made more sense if it would have been badged a 1500HD or something to that effect. As @svtnos said, probably just a numbers game.......? So the real question is if the 1500 & 2500 MC are the exact same truck is Ram under price on the 1500 or making a killing on the 2500??????

I would think the latter. Lol!

But everything I have found concerning engine, trans, drive line, etc. all the specs match across the board.

Good point, I would think the latter also. And I already found a guy that ran to the junkyard scales (not that accurate but good enough) with me and the numbers were very close to each, mine was a little heavier because of what we had in the cabs of our rigs, so my final rabbit hole conclusion is fca played with the numbers and the 1500mc’s are exactly the same as the 2500mc’s, but the question still remains, if I get pulled over towing, will I get a ticket if I’m over gvcw from a falsely produced door sticker? Probably will huh.

Well thanks for the info brother. My searching is DONE:mfr_closed1:

This weekend I replaced the driver's side upper and lower control arms, sway bar link, and shocks. The front A-Arm bolt cooperated, the back one was seized in the bushing like others have experienced. I can recommend the Diablo carbide tip sawzall blade for cutting through those. The first side took less than 10 minutes, the bushing on the other side was right up against the frame so I had to cut through the bushing and bolt. Upper shock bolt had to be cut out, the 2 lower bolts snapped off. Passenger side and an alignment come next.

In NJ I would almost guarantee it. I know back when I lived there they really didn’t mess with Pick’em Up Trucks as far as hauling and towing. Unless it looked ridiculously obvious that you could or will kill someone. I don’t know if it’s still that way....?

Of course one thing on your side is the 8 lugs. If we as MC owners are clueless about our rigs details then you can guarantee a State Cop will have no idea either. I’d say debadge the door and don’t do anything stupid. Lol! Just looking at the truck screams Heavy Duty.

I had a Eaton true-trac installed today.

I hope it was worth the price.

I’m picking it up in a few hours.

Knock on wood, I haven’t yet, but I don’t tow anything huge, it’s a little over the gvcw per my fake door sticker but not by much so hopefully nobody will notice.

I already debadged it and hopefully after this winter I can get this pig repainted, the cheapest quote I found was 2200 for a complete re spray of the same color. But I’m still on that hunt because 2200$ sounds like a lot, but I know nothing about painting. The first place I went wanted 6500, I almost **** myself lol, that’s more than half the cost of the truck. I’ve only tried three different places so maybe I can find one cheaper but my research is telling me no. What do you guys think?

@SYKRAMMAN Mine will need a re spray at some point in the future too. Its got the famous "Paint & Primer" issues. Worst is above the windshield. A spot on the hood, and some light spots on the door pillars. I'd say be cautious of too low of a price, remember ya get what ya pay for.

Yes I agree, people were saying, just go to macco, I said for what, it’ll come out worse then it is now lol. I don’t have too much damage but my whole tailgate and a dime size spot on both rear fenders, and a few deep gouges here n there, oh and a couple of spots were I splashed brake fluid on the fl fender, the rest could possibly be buffed out but like I said, I know nothing about vehicle painting. I may just get the major stuff done and have it professionally detailed, idk yet, it all depends if I get a winter this year here in good’ol corrupt jersey, last year killed me with no snow. Snow is my extra toy money ya know.

Holy **** my Friend you should have been around here then. We had more snow than we knew what to do with. LOL! Granted it was nothing like the Blizzards of '93 & '96 back in NJ, but it was still more than I wanted to shovel.

Yeah I remember those, man did I make a killing with just a shovel, I was teen back then but made buckets of loot lol. I always pray for a winter like that nowadays, well, ever since I had equipment, I’ve prayed lol. Shoveling days are done for me with a screwed spine, literally.
