I've got to say, I'm surprised by how much I like my '04 1500. The last Ram I owned was a mid '70s short bed that I couldn't drive in the rain because the ignition would get waterlogged and cut out. I've owned a '69 318 Barracuda and a '70 383 'Cuda... I'm no stranger to Mopars. But after my experience with an '03 Liberty and especially the '05 PT Cruiser I swore I'd never own another anything related to Chrysler. So it's a bit of a mystery how I even ended up buying this truck. I blame alien abduction.

But I'm genuinely impressed. It was clearly not designed and built by the same drunks in charge of the economy cars. There are only a few things that make me want to slap the engineers. It's actually the first vehicle I've owned in a while that I don't want to fix any design issues. There's plenty wrong with the truck, but it's all PO stuff, not factory.

So, yeah, I guess I'm a Ram guy now.

Poor life choices. I also left out a few:
'88 ragtop 'Vette
'77 Firebird (baddest car I've ever owned)
'69 Cougar
3 AMC-era Cherokees
'72 El Camino
'59 Ranchero
Plus a slew of less exciting cars that are still better than a PT Cruiser.

The current flagship, however, is the '59 T-Bird project that's waiting for me to start throwing money at it.

Barracuda----PT cruiser, yeah I can see the relationship. Lol
I've owned Chevy trucks since the mid seventies and like my current 04 Ram better than any of them.

Other than the old Dodge I mentioned in the OP, all my pickups have been Fords. Yeah, this feels better.

idk whats so wrong with a pt cruiser.. i have one, love that fricken thing..(even though its just a back and forth to work car, since the ram gets 13.5 mpgs) easy to work on, parts are plentiful and cheap.. gets 21mpg and can haul a bunch of crap if need be..

I think PT cruisers are insanely ugly but would certainly drive one back and forth to work as my 04 2500 gets a consistent 11.8 mpg. Lol

My PT was one of just 476 built in '05 with the SRT-4 engine, 5-speed, and drop-top. That's pretty rare for a mainstream production car. And with 230 HP it was a little rocket. But it also came with the legendary Mopar flickering headlights. The top quit working. And the clutch ***** cylinder blew out twice. I bought it to save money on my commute and it cost me over $4,000 in the three months I owned it.

I've spent about $12,000 on cars in just over a year. And it's all because I couldn't justify spending $1,900 to rebuild the transmission in my '92 F-150 when it blew. I could have fixed everything on that truck for less than half what I've burned trying to replace it. And that doesn't count the $5,500 I paid for the Ram.

Deja Vu, the Ram is still at the dealer getting fixed so he can get an inspection sticker on it.
