Thuren fox shocks vs bilstein 5100

opinions on these two shocks for the rear of my ram 2500 w factory coils.

I’m not looking to get a softer spring since I load up my truck pretty regularly and i didn’t want the headache of air bags and extra expense

Most of my driving is on road w some occasional off roading that is slower speeds.

Without the softer coils, you will probably not feel much of a difference between these shocks. The factory coils are pretty stiff and come into play really early so the shock don't have much of a dampening effect. I would recommend a a Sumosprings Rebel blue kit(not the black). It made a significant difference dampening the bumps both unloaded and loaded. There is also less squat when loaded, and their two piece design allows for articulation when I go off road at the farm and deer lease.

I put Bilstein 5100’s in my 3500. The stiffness of bumps remain the same, but the “aftershocks” are better, if that makes any sense.

There’s no shaking after a bump anymore. It just returns to level after a bump.

That does make sense cause that’s what I’m trying to eliminate, I’ll never expect the truck to ride like a 1/2 ton, even though this 3/4 ton rides better than some 1/2 tons w an aluminum body that have Real truck tires and not some whimpy passengers tires.

SouthTexas, you wouldn’t happen to have a picture of what they look like installed, the sumo springs, they are intriguing to me?

Although you probably won't need to, you can remove the bottom cushion(only 1 one bolt) on both sides in less than 10 minutes and can even do it without a jack out in the field if you have a way to articulate one side of the axle. These pictures were taken on install. I was not on level ground with the front of the facing downward so there is a little more separation than there is on level ground. They also sell .5, 1, and 2 inch spacer kits if needed for lifted trucks.
