Well Looked under my wife’s 187’ big horn. Yep stupid temp tire :banghead: Guess I’ll be grabbing real tire although I think she’s about to put new rims and tires. So prolly go with an extra wheel and tire. Glad I checked. My 2500 has a steel 17” wheel but it’s a real friggin tire. We call her truck “the car” guess with that temp tire it’s even more car like lololooololol.

My 2016 came with a 17x7 aluminum wheel & temp tire. When I replaced my 20" wheels with Ram 17" Rebel wheels I also replace my temp spare tire with a real tire

Damn...mines the 17 with the temp tire. Oh well that’s a project for another day. Thanks to all of you who answered. looks like there’s plenty a room for the 20 with that 275’s on it in the spare holder.

There's room for a 33" diameter tire but you have to be sure the wheel center hole will accept the spare tire holder's bar at the end of the cable. An OEM 20" chrome clad wheel center hole is too small - won't fit.

On my 2013 2500 I have a 35x12.5x17 in the factory spare location. It's a tight fit, but not terrible.

I used the temp spare to get back home on a Sunday afternoon last summer, 5 miles down a forest service road, and about 80 miles back over the pass on I-90 to Seattle. Kept it below 65, and couldn’t even tell it was there

IF you want to keep your 17" wheel and have stock 275/60/20 tires, just replace the temp spare with a new 285/70/17 tire - it's diameter is almost the exact same size as a half used 20" tire. Which is about the perfect diameter. This will not be a replacement for your damaged 20" tire permanently but will let you drive on a full real tire until you can get the damaged tire repaired or replaced.
I went with a 285/70/17 E load rated tire for the spare, much better than the temp if loaded/off pavement/ far from a repair facility (ie. traveling across country at night/etc)/

As far as using a chrome clad stock 20" wheel as the spare, yes it will work and fit AFTER you remove the chrome cladding and just have a bare aluminum wheel.

My father was annoyed that his Laramie came with a 17" tire for the spare. My Longhorn came with a 20" full size spare. I replaced it (same rim) with a 275/65R20 to match the size of my current regular tires, fits fine.

A stock 20" wheel will fit up under there if you take the clad cover off........can't remember the max diameter on the tire though.
I refused to use the temporary spare when I got a screw in one while preparing to pull a trailer home and had the tire repaired. I removed the 17" and put in a 20 with a same sized tire as the others. Weighs more, but worth it to me to have a real tire to match. And yes it fits...

So I'm assuming a 20" spare with the stock Black spoke wheels won't fit either- unless I can alter the end piece that holds the wheel up.......Never say never. Gives me something to do that makes it look almost factory. I'll be in touch.........

You have to remove the clad and get to the bare aluminum wheel underneath, the center hole in the clad is only like two inches but the center hole in the actual rim underneath it is probably like 4" which is big enough to get that piece that the winch hangs off of through.

My SLT has 20" with a 17" rim and tire. When I got new tires I kept 2 good ones been looking for a 20" rim but not in no hurry.

What about just drilling out the cladding to fit the winch?

I guess you could do that but it would look kind of messed up. I had a wheel with crunched up cladding that was bent and broken all to hell so I removed the cladding just to see if I could half ass straighten it and that's when I discovered the much larger hole underneath. I guess if someone wants to try that put a pic on here so we can see what it looks like.

It will without the plastic fantastic cover....center diameter is 3.25"

Yessir...and powder coat gloss black like I did with the other four so they match. The temporary tire already is the 285/70/17. It and the wheel will be sold together.

I tried to have mine repaired however the damage was too close to the sidewall.

When I get to the point that I am pulling a trailer over Snoqualmie pass I will find a steel 20 inch rim and standard tire and toss em in the bed.
