Im new to the Forum and have recently acquired my family truck. We are the original owners since 15 miles on the vehicle. Of course many upgrades through out the years. Recently have done the dash core, cover from LMC, LED lights, new white gauge stickers, heater core and evaporator. Now I just need to recharge the AC during this hot summer and check the vac lines because it is only blowing out of the window (defrost) vents. Let me know what you think and be honest.

hats off to you sir!

In regards to the lines change the high side with the orifice tube, if needed, they get clogged over the years. and for the defrost only vent, is a vacuum issue. When you reinstalled the evap core there shouldve been a black vacuum line coming through the firewall that corrects to a 90 degree vacuum fitting that goes over the firewall to driverside of engine for vacuum

Nice! Where did you source your dash core from? I would love to replace mine with something not as brittle, if possible. Also, would it be possible to get to the evap core with out tearing the dash completely off? I think mine might be caked in dirt like yours was.

I got the dash core at a junk yard/Pick a Part. I lucked out and it was the very first one that I went to. To make it more durable, I sprayed rhino liner on the back of the core to make it stronger (which it did.) For the Evap Core, you have to take out the whole HVAC housing unit. It is locked inside. That's why I did the whole project together. Since the dash was out, might as well fix the Heater and Evaporator. It is time consuming but well worth it.
