I've been on this forum for a long time and never actually posted. Current truck is a 16 Ram 1500 cc 5.7 4x4 with almost 45k on the clock. I've had 0 issues other then a couple recalls. I'm in the process of truck shopping for a 2500 6.4, I had planned to buy used with 20-30k but most sellers are asking in the mid 30s for that. To me it seems like spending a few extra thousand to step up to a 19 w/ the 8speed seems almost like a no brainer. Are the 19s really that superior to the previous model years? Thanks for the input!

I'm guessing your upgrading to a 2500 for towing reasons? From a transmission standpoint, the new 8 speed is a lot better than the 6 especially for towing. The first gear is lower for better take off and low speed maneuvering. The gear ratios are closer together meaning the shifts won't be as abrupt along with the gear can be better matched to the speed and torque requirements of the load.
The rest of the 19 truck pretty much has just had minor cosmetic and technical changes in comparison to the 18. Probably the big thing that will get you would be driving down the road and pulling next to someone with a '19(keep in mind the '18 looks like the previous 6 model years)... you'll sorta kick yourself for not getting splurging.

Where about in Michigan you from? (just in case I need to put a "HAHA you should have bought a '19" note on your window...LOL)

Yes, I want to step up to 3/4 to add a snowplow and for towing purposes. I would only be plowing my own driveway not commercially. With my family growing it's time to upgrade the tt to a larger option. I plan on paying cash, I'm just not sure how to use that as leverage at the dealer, if that is even leverage.. I'm in Mackinaw Ciry

Let the dealer know low price is king and don't be afraid to walk away from an offer. A couple hours and you can get to a lot of Ram dealers. The end of the year isn't too far away. Your not in a bind to buy a vehicle, take you time dealing. Come down to the Detroit area and say Hi! [emoji16] there's lots of Ram dealers including **** Huvaere, one of highest volume Ram dealers in the country.
My one buddy took a new Ford for a test drive over the Ram dealer to counter the offer a salesman made him, they knocked another $2K off.

Yeah, I have family in Novi, I've been looking down that way for sure. The more I search the more I'm seeing that new with full blown warranty is the way to go. It's a little more then i wanted to spend, but it makes the most sense.

Did my best to talk myself out of a new truck, I couldn't drive past the dealer today without stopping ( thankfully they were closed).. I think I'm in trouble, I sure like the 19 tradesman.
