Post how many miles are on your truck and witch motor you have! Also list what major components have been rebuilt or replaced.

Thought it would be fun to see who's got the most miles.

Im at 230k. Got it from dad at 106k and he bought it as the 2nd owner in 2003 at 20k.

While he had it i know it had the trans "rebuilt" 3 times. Pretty sure that was due to the shop performing the "rebuild" though because it was all within 10k miles of each other and all had a warranty on it. So the "4th" trans lasted from about 70k to 170k. At about the 112k-115k mark the converter lost lockup function. Between then and 170k when i swapped it with the built trans i currently have it had a bunch of work done replacing solenoids, a valvebody and various coolers. Overheating was a big problem without lockup. Could've done just the converter and been good but i wanted something nice and strong

Engine wise it's been pretty good. Had a coil die while driving. Have put a couple water pumps on, not out of necessity but because i was in there doing other work already. Put a double roller chain in somewhere around 130k. Old one didn't break or anything i just did it to do it. In the last couple years ive put on an alternator and a power steering pump because they died, both were original.

Rebuilt both diffs around 190k because i wanted different gears.

Aside from that it's had wear parts work like steering linkages, hub bearings, u joints, etc

I am going to be replacing the original engine soon, before 240k. Picked up a spare to build up and will be putting that in instead. Original I'll put new rings and bearings in and "send it" in something else

96 5.9 2wd. 196K miles. 3rd owner, knew the first 2 - 1st one is an auto shop teacher. Oil changes EVERY 3K - 10W30 Valvoline, Mopar filter. Plenium and valve cover gaskets at 100K. Alternator at 160K. Shortie headers at 70K and again at 150K. Shift kit in trans at 35K, fluid changed every 50K. I have a fresh trans ready to install in about a month. 3:92 limited slip rear axle - typical pinion bearing repair at 70K. Shocks and rear shackles at 180K. Fuel pump at 190K. Typical turn signal wiring repair. Dash top is remarkably uncracked.

Their* truck ;)

Sorry had to be that guy

Had a 06 Dakota that I sold with 165K on it had the 4.7 bought it with 100K and it never gave me issues. Only thing I had to replace was belts, hoses, water pump. Other than that it was a fantastic truck. Sold it to my grandfather who still has it now and uses it to drive in town rather than his 2500. I intend on buying it back when he's done with it.

As far as Dakota's go, my 99 2wd 3.9 has 255K, but I don't know any history under the 190K I bought it at. I've replaced the typical brakes, ball joints, unit bearings, water pump, etc. It still runs and shifts well, but I suspect it had both the engine and trans rebuilt at some time.

165K on the clock for my 360/5.9

When I bought it at 150K, the engine was running S***. I immediately did a tune up, water pump, timing chain, plenum, new radiator, power steering flush and fill, trans drain and fill, transfer case drain and fill. Replaced all front end steering and suspension. New shocks all around. Just put on a new cat back exhaust.

Still a couple of big jobs to do. It needs the rear rebuilt and new brakes all around with a brake flush. But it runs and drives nicely (if you don't listen to the rear too closely)...

Hey this is off topic but I've got a grinding noise while turning and on the gas at the same time. It's not any u joints or wheel bearings because I just did em all. I also had both did covers off bout a 1,000 miles ago and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. If any of y'all know what it is let me know cause it's slowly getting worse.

Yeah I did. I also checked the back half of the T case. It sounds like something drivetrain. Could it be a pinion bearing or the lsd degrading?

Could be. If you open the rear sliding window and drive down the road, do you hear bearing noise? The pinion will wine at highway speeds when accelerating and decelerating. The carrier bearings and axle bearing will make grinding/rumbling noises at slow speeds (under 30 mph). If you only hear noise when turning, the side of the axle bearing the load will make noise. You can then tell if the right or left axle bearings are bad.

Over time the clutches in the trac-lok lsd will wear out. It will sometimes "chatter" when making turns if not lubed properly with oil and friction modifier. The metal filings will get into the oil and can foul the bearings. Also the clutch retainers can get brittle and break. If you're lucky they will fall out with out doing more damage, but there is also a great chance they get chewed up in the gear set.

Noise from the rear is usually never a good sign and = work and $$$.

Ok I'll check the axle bearings. I don't think I have a carrier bearing, it's a regular cab short bed.

no. your differential has carrier bearings. They are on each side you your ring gear carrier.

Another good way top check (although it's a little dangerous) is to jack up the rear of the truck and put the differential on jack stands and have a buddy throw the truck into drive and listen to the axles spin. You will hear things really well that way. Just need to be very careful.

330k on my 2001 1500 QC LB 4x4 5.9L that I gave to Dad this year. Bought it new with 66 miles on it.

Transmission rebuilt twice. The first time was because it is a 46RE. The second time because Aamco rebuilt it the first time with a cheap torque converter. Rebuilt rear diff when the pinion seal blew. Replaced transfer case gasket. Replaced water pump during timing chain planned maintenance only because it was off. Total front end rebuild plus upper and lower ball joints again. Only thing replaced on the engine was camshaft and crankshaft sensors. And leaky evaporative system hoses as long as I've had it. Still need to replace those now that I know where the leak is.

Where's @VernDiesel to get in on this one, maybe he'll chime in and fill in the blanks I miss.
Last I read he was well into the 500K mile range on his '14 EcoDiesel which he uses to haul TTs across the country. He did put a new engine in at around 371K as the head gaskets started leaking.

Currently I have a 2001 5.9 with 240,000. This one has been a bit mistreated by who knows how many owners, it's a bit rattly but it still gets me to work. I've rebuilt the front end and done the trans solenoid as well as a fuel pump. My previous ram was a 99 5.9 that my dad bought new and I inherited. It met its demise at around 430,000 mi when a girl turned left in front of me. That truck had 1 trans replaced at around 350,000 and no other major problems (there was worn out stuff but nothing that left me stranded).

Don't forget all of those 500K+ miles were on the original 8hp70 transmission with fluid(Valvoline Maxlife ATF) and filter changes only so far and mostly towing like you said. Simply amazing! Got to be the best automatic tranny story I've ever heard. Most automatic transmission's would be ready for their third rebuild by now or long ago replaced.
