I recently inherited a 95 Ram 2500 4x4 V10 that I absolutely love. Last weekend I changed the oil and filter, used Mobil 1, 10w30 and a Wix filter. Now it has excellent oil pressure at idle, but above 2000 rpms it drops below 20 psi. It’s 45 psi or so at idle. This is freaking me out...... Any ideas what’s going on?? Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.

Possible low oil? How much oil did you use? Assuming it didn’t have any issues prior to the oil change

Sending unit? I had a 97 V10 (great truck) and one time during highway driving the oil gauge shot all over the place then dropped. Pulled over, checked oil, OK, no leaks. Took a chance and drove it to dealer. Bad sending unit.

But, to be safe, if I were you, put a mechanical gauge on it and check, before you drive it again.

My v10 I used to have would be a bit higher when first started, then go down throughout the day to about 20 psi like yours. We used it as a tow truck and it lasted until the reverse went out on it. You could have a shop check it out or just monitor it and if it drops to 0 or 5 psi then you need to replace something and quick!

Could have a bad oil filter maybe change oil and install new oil filter a mopar one. I had a problem one time and it turned out that the oil filter had a bad check valve on it and would block the oil into the engine.
