I just called the dealership to order a spare key fob for my 2012 Ram...The guy said with tax and all, it would be about $270......Thats almost as much as I paid for my old 83 Plymouth that cruised me all over the place as a teenager...Times sure have changed..I have become the grumpy old man that remembers cheaper times...

That is crazy! You can buy the factory remote start kit for that which comes with two keys.

As others said use a local locksmith. Mine was around $400 from Dodge and $200 from LS.

Go to a local locksmith. I was going to buy an OEM from Ebay then have a locksmith program it ($50 fee). I never got around to it, but I had a key blade copied and put it under my truck in a magnetic box just in case I lock my keys inside (unlock door only with blade).

Hope you didn't put the magnetic box under the hood----LOL

Don't buy Amazon key fobs. I bought 2 and had them programmed locally to save money... Now I can't guarantee this next piece... But a few months later my WIN module broke using the Amazon key ($600 repair). Can't say for sure it was the cheaper key fobs or if it was just crap timing. Just my .02

I am a locksmith and as anybody on here from South Jersey/Philly area will attest, I do the Fobix keys cheaper than anyone else (2012 Ram $84. programming included). I do not sell Chinese knock off or refurbs as I have found they generally last about 3 weeks then the remote portion stops working, I only sell OEM brand new same as you would get from the stealer, once I get my hands on your truck I can usually have it done in about 10 minutes or less. I can do these so cheap because we have taken the time to shop around and buy quantities of fobs in order to get the best price.
If you find yourself in the Berlin NJ area stop in, my shop is east to find, it is the one with the long lines out the door.
