Have a 2008 Ram 1500 Quad cab 4x4 5.7, 93k miles. Recently check engine light came on, showing low oil pressure code. Replaced sender with new Mopar unit, reset light, code returned fairly quickly. I use 5-20 Amsoil that has been in for about 3k miles. I saw something about an ECU reprogram as the gauge never fluctuates or rarely goes below halfway. Is this a spendy dealer thing or should I look at other possibilities?

:welcome: Are you sure it is oil Pressure, not oil temperature? Check your oil level, then use a mechanical oil pressure gauge connected in place of the sending unit to check actual oil pressure. This will let you know if the oil pump is failing, if all is good, check the wiring to the oil pressure sensor for damage, or breaks. Even a new Mopar oil pressure sensor can be bad, if oil pressure is good, try another Mopar oil pressure sensor.

I own a 07' Quad Cab 1500, rwd, 5.7L Hemi running AMSOIL 5W30XL engine oil and a Mobil 1 Performance synthetic oil filter. I turned MDS off about 4 years ago. I also have a AutoMeter Oil Pressure gauge installed at augment the stock oil pressure gauge. I also have a AutoMeter Transmission Fluid Temp. gauge to monitor the transmission temperature.
