Good day,
I’m Inquiring if anyone has taken the intermediate shaft (U joint) apart on a 2011 Ram 1500. I have taken the bolt all the way out as it sits in a groove in the shaft, however it feels like there is another bolt or something holding on the end of the shaft that slips out of the u joint. Anyone know how this separates?

Thanks.

Following. I may need to replace mine too because I’m getting a clunk/thud in my steering wheel when I turn it close to all the way and I don’t have any play in my steering wheel when I’m driving. I would think there would be 2 (1 on each shaft) but I haven’t looked at it yet.

I replaced this in my 2011 just a few weeks ago. Did you remove both 13mm bolts? I loosened the top first, removed the bottom and then the top bolt. Then tapped up on the bottom portion with a pry bar. And the top will slide right down.

yeah I unloosened both bolts, but didn’t use a pry bar or anything to tap out. Maybe that was the issue. Do you tap under the bottom of the lower bolt, or under the top bolt?

Thanks for this info too.

Underneath the lower bolt. It'll lift right off and then you can pull the top portion straight down. There are slits on the top and bottom as well so you may have to slightly open one or both with a chisel or something (I didn't have to). But not a big deal if you're replacing the u-joint.
