Consider yourself grumbled at for not including a finished or semi finished picture. :fca5278d:

Did the kit widen the front track? I've really thought about getting one of these kits for years!

Moving on...

I'm prepping the truck for a local show in two weeks. Yes... it will take me that long and the rain isn't helping.

I buffed scratches off the bumper, cleaned the exhaust tips, and wiped some greasy crap off the rear shocks.

I have about 10 -12 "must do" items on my list.

All for the possibility of winning a 2 dollar trophy.
Sorry about that! I'll try to remember to get some pics of the finished product in October when I'm back in the states.
No it didn't widen the front track at all. Everything is in the factory location. I DO have 2 gripes about the kit though. 1st one being the rotor will be a real ***** to change in the future and expensive because you pretty much have to disassemble the entire thing and the rotor is going to only be available as a Yukon part. 2nd, it increases the hub diameter so stock wheels will not work without boring them out and many aftermarket won't either. Factory is 78.1mm if i remember right and now it's 87.7mm (i think). My wheels have a 108mm bore and after some digging i found a set of plastic centric rings for 87.7-108mm. I understand it would've been virtually impossible to keep it the factory diameter but i wish they would've picked a more common size lol

Good information...I was told the hubs widened the track by 3/4 inch. I do NOT want my truck looking like a CHivy

The rotors will be pressed off the hubs by removing the studs and hubs. This is how gen 1 Dodges were set up. It is a pain as more shops close and people who know how to use a shop press become few and far between.

I can assure you that the rotor is an OEM part, just like the rest of the setup. I heard that certain ford parts are used to build the kit. Custom building these parts would be prohibitive so I'm sure the rotors are available. The code has to be cracked

I should change my statement about track width to "not that i noticed". I can't tell visually that it's any wider but i can confirm in a few months via tape measure.

Idk that these are pressed together. They SURE looked to be 1 solid piece but i was also more concerned with install than i was future servicing. I'll update you in a few months when I'm tearing the truck apart again for the engine swap

Cleaning, scrubbing, waxing, gluing, sealing, cursing...the Ram has a week to go and I've barely got a good start. I let things go too long again.

Ordered a 2pc crank pulley on Amazon so i can run an SFI approved balancer on the new engine. Also ordered header crankcase evac kit. Plan on doing it differently than most though. Going to run a regular breather on one side, breather elbow on the other going to the header evac BUT it'll have a catch can in between and a 1 way valve down by the header. Not worried about it running through a full exhaust. My headers have 3" collectorsand 3" midpipes. Going to go from dual 3" back to a single pipe though with a 3.5" system. The duals are just too heavy, take up too much room and too difficult to tone down.

Not this paycheck or the next one but the one after (lol) I'll be ordering a bunch of the gaskets/hardware to get this thing going. I'll still need new valve covers+gaskets, head gaskets and pushrods. Going to get cheapo Ebay LA 5 bolt covers, felpro 1008 head gaskets and pushrods I'll need to measure for once the heads are on because i have no idea what I'll need there. Block being taken down somewhere around 0.030, possible minor head shaving for true-ness and a thinner than stock gasket. Should be about 0.040 of distance total taken out and im not sure how the valve train is going to be affected. Need hardened ones anyways

Well, I haven't done it yet but it will be soon. Probably today after work. I'll be putting the old girl up for sale. I've been looking for something newer lately and I was offered to take over payments on my sister's 06 Mega Cab with 127k miles on it. That was finalized today and it'll be in my name by next week or so. Hopefully the old girl will go to a good home. One of my co-workers is considering it for a work truck around his farm.

Drove the truck across town to my mechanic, who will hopefully fix the AC.

The original accumulator sprung a leak in or around the schrader valve, so it's time for a tune-up.

Edit: FIXED! Nice cold air so my dogs can ride with Poppa again.

Ordered the fuel pressure gauge for the cummins wrecker. My apps Reset have been more frequent and I am not able to drive more than 2 hours without a rest. sometimes shutting it down for a few minutes will make it go away or drivable a bit longer, speeds reduced to about 60mph max and rpms topped out at 2200rpm. started at 88k and came back every 3kish miles now im at 100k and frequent. Suspect Fuel delivery issues (lift pump, Injection pump, intank unit which I shouldnt have but may).

When the issue occurs at first it is slight bucking / jerking / hesitation then it comes with white smoke (unburnt diesel?) open to ideas now on my 3rd aftermarket apps sensor. This one started problems within 40 miles (lots of idle at an oil rig for a tow job)

I just did a quick search to confirm what i suspected. White smoke could mean coolant (unlikely in your case), or injector related issues. (Probably this one.) But I'm no diesel mechanic.

Yeah coolant is not depleting, or mixing with oil or vice versa. Only happens after it runs for a while 2+ hours. Suspected possibly injectors that stick when at op temp.

Took it to a shop near my house, they used the snap on scanner, said injection pump and lift pump likely. I requested them to check fuel pressure, but they didnt do that. Good news is it was a free diagnosis.

Once I have the fuel gauge installed I should have a better idea of whats happening when the issue occurs, or possibly low pressure from start which would be bad lift pump. I'm hoping and praying its only the lift pump. Unfortunately dont have the $1500+ for an injection pump at the moment.

Got the fuel gauge installed on the cummins wrecker right on the vp44, 10 psi at idle, 5 psi at 2500-3000rpms. to my understanding 5psi is to low for anytime, and idle should be at least 12psi, drop should only be 2-3psi max.

Going to try the fass ddrp2, prob take a week to get here.

few updates, new carter pump installed, had decent psi 13-14 at idle, but upon driving i got down to 0 psi! WTH! Ordered the fass and it will be here this week fingers crossed. Also changed a line that was partially kinked and that bumped up the psi by 1. So lets hope the FASS keeps steady pressure like they say.

GOT THE fass installed! 17PSI at idle and 12psi at WOT. Definitely going to recommend these to anyone with a cummins.IMG_1006.jpg
