First NEW Dodge Ram owned, and its awesome. My 2007 F150 finally died of old age after a long life, 4.6 was really worn out, electronics failures were everywhere. This Ram Hemi engine and transmission are great. The Unconnect is perfect for my cell phone and tunes, the sound is great, steering wheel controls, everything is great. $9,000.00 off new price!

Anyone who is thinking about a Ram Hemi, BUY it. It's the bomb, a really great ride, engine, transmission, rear end and that's really cool. :)

It's a throwback from the old days: regular cab, 8' box, filament bulbs, 4X4, locking rear end, jet engine, hand crank windows, plastic floor covering, normal manual keys, seats, tilt, digital MPH, cruise control, simple and easy nothing intricate, really easy peasy. This is a great work truck. :)

The front de-badged, the "look" on the filler plate is distorted from the rain, its flat and shiny.

And yes it's de-baged :)

Did I say it's really great!

I'm enjoying it.

Work trucks here in Alaska don't need anything extra on them. Keeping it simple is the best thing for winter driving, driving in the woods, you name it.

My other vehicle is a Lincoln that I use for touring the Alaska countryside. The Lincoln has everything for driving comfort.

The power to the workshop is under the drivers seat, I don't want to use any power from the truck except for the power side of the battery. Preserving the truck electrical, electronics, is paramount.

The workshop is a Korean war era "Communication Shelter" which is well insulated, well built, I custom rebuilt the shelter for my locksmith business.

This is the Communication Shelter.

I found it in a abandoned drug house.

I installed this workshop on my own, in snow, on my old 2007 Ford without any help. I also transferred it to my new truck by myself. It's a lot of work, but worth all the work involved, 110V, 12V, heater lines, you name it, I fabricated every piece to fit and finish.

Congrats on the truck! I moved down from Wasilla last year. Sold my Ram 2500 before I left, but missed it so got a 1500 after I got down south. The only option I would put your truck is a remote start so she's good and warm when you get in it.

Sorry to hear that, my plan is to stay here permanently, it's our last big adventure and I finally got the home exactly how I want it. Took six years to "remodel" things, but it's what I wanted, it's paid for, and the location is perfect. Now all I need is to maintain the house, take really good care of my customers, and enjoy my life in the great Mat-Su valley.

I use a block heater, a standard issues in Alaska. I am satisfied with the setup, I've used block heaters for South Dakota, Oklahoma, Arizona, I started using them in 1989.

My home in the Mat-Su, the racecar is my neighbors who I sponsor. Its a great home with everything I need to fabricate on my projects.

WALZ: Sounds Like U got everything U need. U found a Korean era RAT rig for the truck, awesome. Have spent a lil time in the Vietnam era ones and like in the back of M35A2's (deuce and a half to the non-military), that Had big boxes built on, and Command Posts made for units, etc, etc. Never did the 53' ones, that was division level. AHHHHH, the memories of days gone past.............

Congrats on the new "simple" ride and all U got going on up there...........................:guile-1:

Just loving life in Alaska. This "shelter" or workshop was manufactured until the mid 1960's, however the shelters have distinct characteristics between the 1950 and 1960 era, and the manufacturers are unique also in hardware used.

It's a blast from the past, new vs old.

These electrical connections were heavy.

Gutting it out, I used 670 rivets on the new aluminum sheets plus special RV caulking.

Found this on EBay:
"09-17 DODGE RAM Upper Glove Box Storage Lid Cover Grey Gray . Only cover and cubby. No bolts: one piece on back is broke but other one is good and still works like it should"

I don't know why Dodge doesn't put one in at the factory.

This one is in excellent condition.

A little bit of cleaning will take care of it.

The seller didn't have the hardware, however I found them, the seller was kinda abrupt, however it was a great deal so I bought it.

Installed the license plate today, I remembered that the snow level gets high so I installed it with the license plate frame, things are going smoothly.

The new Ram truck ignition key is in the dash, no biggie if you have a push start, however the regular key ignition is situated where you have a problem with keys rubbing on the dash below the key switch. It can ruin a dash real fast, so the solution is a throwback from the 1960's, a leather key holder, protecting the dash. Call me attention to detail, or some folks may think I'm just nuts, I don't care It's just one small issue that's bugging me.

Ok, I just got the upper glove box completed.

received_1324511787722828.jpeg

This looks funky without the full dash look.

This is the finished product, now that looks COOL!

The door took some patients getting it in, setting it into place. It was well worth the part sourcing and have a awesome dash.

Still needs cleaning, no damage, a nice part.

The seller on ebay showed this one for sale:

s-l500 (1)_kindlephoto-138241337.jpg

As you can see, it shows a light in the photo and when I received the product in the mail, it was just a blank, no light. :(

When I contacted the seller they said they don't come with lights, which was his only response. Frankly, I bought it because it was reasonable, a light costs $20.00 to buy so thats why I thought it was a sweet deal. So I'm not squeamish about negative feedback.

On a good note, it was not damaged, so it blends right into the dash looking sweet. :)

I am anil retentive, so I have the Mopar cleaning products coming in to clean it. :)

I'm really enjoying the Ram, it's a real awesome truck. I've got it where it's personalised, the workshop is perfect, the truck doesn't sag a bit. I thought it might sag, however it is nice and level.

i have to work on finding a "accessory hot wire" in the rear of the truck. This way I will be able to run the shop heater while the vehicle is running and off when the truck is shut down. This will make my shop warm, easier to work inside when it's zero degrees outside.
