I received the update message about a week ago. Like a good boy I scheduled the update.....the next day ....nothing happened. I needed to use the truck....no radio....very limited use of any controls not duplicated elsewhere.....heater a/c ECT.
That no makes it a safety thing!!!
SO a couple days later I try Uconnect web site.....it won't acknowledge my serial number. Hmmm ok I'll call the number on the web site.
1st call; pushed the numbers they asked for.....computer dropped me.
2nd call: put on hold for, according to them, less than 20 minutes......really?this isn't going to be good........so about 30 min later someone comes on the phone and before I can say hello they hang up!!!
Ok, I'm now fuming.
3rd call; same as second except a person comes on and I was immediately tell them not to hang up.....they speak American English and sound american..yahooo....... so he walks me thru several steps then tells me I have to shut the truck off and remove the key......i don't have a key.....well can you set in the truck for 6 hours....are you kidding me it's hot out and the widows are up........well then just stay there for 10 minutes.....oook.....well I can't stay on the line with have a Nice day.....silence........
I sat in disbelief for 10 roasting minutes. Restarted the truck......didnt work.
I have now rescheduled about three times over the last 2 days. It just won't work and now I have a unsafe truck to drive(my only transportation). I think today I call Chrysler, I am so fed up. Pay over 55000 for a truck and some B'S company holds it hostage!!!!!!!!!!!!
Uconnect..

Try these steps (from a few posts up): https://www.ramforum.com/posts/2117005/

BTW, UConnect is part of FCA, so its basically the same BS company that built and sold the $55K truck :)

I got the update notice a few days ago. Tried it at that time and it failed and of course it said "see your dealer". The funny thing is, just before it gave me the update warning, I opened the door and the radio stayed on. I shut the door, opened it again and it was still on. Went ahead and did my business at the tire shop, got back in my truck and the radio was off. Got home, shut it off and that is when the upgrade noticed popped up. Never had an issue with the radio staying on again.

...I picture in my mind poor version control, a bad list of radios that the update applies to and hack upon hack so that the software is universal enough to work for an ever increasing range of vehicles, models and part numbers...

Yup. Worked in software/SilliValley for 20+ years now. No such thing as software engineering anymore. The approach now is to toss some loose ya-ya marketing specs to a hoard of coders in India. (Note I don't use "programmers" even.) Instead of a plan and structure like you would do in true engineering, instead put development through a software process elegantly named "Agile" that is really just "throw a bunch of **** in the pot and stir. Frantically repeat endlessly". (The hilarious chris5k post applies for Agile as well.) After three or four iterations push the code out to users to find the bugs. Used to just see this mostly in Microsoft products, but now it is everywhere...phones, trucks, even your appliances at home. Even Apple has fallen victim to this lately after decades of having solid coding practices.

I really have gotten cynical after years in the trade. End of rant.

Have not seen the update message yet on my rig. I have a basic 2018 Tradesman with no nav, just the AM/FM/XM radio. The push still apply to the basic models? I am new to the UConnect/Dodge thing, though my wife's Mazda seems to have something similar that gets pushed in to her upper end model 3 occasionally.

Yep, same for me. That’s when I was prompted to schedule an update.

Final update - I had parked the truck and scheduled it for 12:50. 4 pm, I went out and started the truck, and, you guessed it - it wants to schedule the update. Radio, etc still locked.

Will be calling the dealer for an appointment in the morning.

For what it's worth, I lost all my presets a few weeks ago. Then last Friday my radio locked me out - said i needed to schedule the update. Was in town running errands and scheduled it to run while i was in a store. Came out after it should have updated...said i still needed to schedule the update agin (even though it already should have ran) and i was still locked out of radio and voice recognition software didn't work.

After 1hr drive home parked it for 30 minutes. Then got in to run another errand and radio worked, no more messages about scheduling another updated.

I'd give it a restart or 2 to see if the same thing happens for you.

For every one fail there are probably well over 100 successes. Generally only the fails get posted. That being said, I had the same thing happen with the radio staying on and eventually being locked out of the radio when it asked for an update. That was Thursday. I have not driven the truck since but I did go out this morning and check and the update was completed and everything is working. It is showing the current version.

Folks Uconnect updates are extremely vehicle sensitive and chances of an automatic download being successful is probably in the neighborhood of zero. The system is actually programmed by a division of Panasonic. To add to update issues is the fact that two seemingly identical FCA vehicles produced months apart may require different forms of updates.

Too damn much dependency on digital sensors that have no means of adjusting for mechanical wear factors.

I received a message today suggesting that my UCONNECT needed me to schedule an update, and the vehicle should be parked and off at the scheduled time.

Anybody else? How long does it take? Any comments about what’s being updated?

I got the same message and tried several times to upgrade with no luck except my radio is now locked. Took my truck to the dealer and now waiting for a new radio. Supposedly Ram is picking up the cost, but told me it could be up to 30 days!

I wonder if this will help the going price for an RA3 that has never been updated :)

Thanks UConnect for the profit!

Same as well. Thought it was strange when i opened the door and the radio did not shut off. Played around for a while trying to figure out what was wrong. Finally radio shut off. Next time in the truck was the notice to schedule the update.

2 update attempts later and update worked.

3 start cycles later and my radio was finally unlocked.

I know at one point FCA had to release a memo saying not to replace the radios, for the update that destroyed everyone's audio quality. Then it took, what, 6 months to release a fix?

They actually fixed this? Because mine still sounds like a blown subwoofer turned up to 11 on the bottom of the ocean. For well over a year now without a fix. @RamCares

The only way to make the radio even bearable is to set the bass at -10 and the treble at +10. And forget your eardrums if you accidentally hit the voice command button on the steering wheel and that voice comes on BLASTING loud.

I thought I read they did, it might involve a visit to MPGrimms firmware thread, though. I want to say they got the file somehow and it worked with radios that weren't listed as needing he fix.

I dont have a '18 so I dont know for sure.

FCA only released v22.6 for the 2018 UAS non Nav radios (by Panasonic) that had the audio EQ issues ... They never released a version for the 2018 UAQ's with Nav (past 22.5) so those people are STILL SoL on the audio EQ fix... Shameful.

Seperately....
This v18.11.07 SW update the thread/OP are talking about affects the 2013-2017 Ra3 Vp3-NA and Ra4 VP4-NA radios only (by Harmon). Still hoping someone gets their hands on the TSB related to the update to see exactly what is supposed to get addressed.

* I just got off the phone with @mscofield4 that received this v18.11.07 forced update on their 2014 Ram with Ra4 VP4-NA... They can no longer access their external USB port/hub and streaming via BT other than phone calls.

M² Mods.

I need to do some investigating then... since I have a 2018 non Nav. You're saying the version I should have is v22.6? Did this come out OTA?

Start stocking up on pre-built cell bypass harnesses :)

If one exists yet, my guess is the TSB/RRT is accessible through TechAuthority. But its a paid subscription for us normal people.
