Some background in a nutshell -

1997 Dodge Ram 4x4
5.2 reman (EVERYTHING replaced)
RV camshaft
Long tube 3” all the way back
Hughes AirGap intake
Hughes Big Gulp throttle body
Throttle body riser
New injectors
Billet fuel rails
99% vacuum lines replaced.
Time and sync set properly
Tuner was required

Symptoms -

Loping idle, sometimes stalling out
CEL codes -
lean condition 1,2,4,7
Misfire 1,2,4,7 (obviously)
EXTREMELY crappy economy
Runs fair at highway speed but super thirsty.

First, any suggestions on troubleshooting the lean / misfires?
I am going to swap some injectors around to see if the problem migrates.
As far as economy, I understand that with the Comp Cam install I’m not going to get super mileage but I expected better that 4mpg (not exaggerating). My knee jerk reaction is to pull this $400 cam out and chuck it in the bin and go back to an OEM or similar.

Remanufacture was done by Titan in Florida.

The floor is open for comments.

Okay, what is an RV Camshaft? I know it's an old term used by some but it doesn't tell me anything about the cam itself.

Can you post the specs of the Comp Cam?

Also, can you post exact DTC's set in the PCM?

What are you using for tuning? Is it a basic tuner like a Diablosport Predator or a Superchips Flashpaq?

Are you using the pre-installed tunes that came with the tuner or are you using a custom tune?

What scan tool did you use to set the SYNC Signal?

What are you using for datalogging?

Do you have a wideband O2 sensor?

DTC? Unknown.

Tuner -
I answered many questions and Hughes built a custom profile. Two. One for street and one for towing.

Scan tool was a big SnapOn unit. A *real* mechanic used that to set/verify time and sync.

As far as data logging, I’m not sure. I keep notes. ‍♂️

I don’t know if the O2 sensors are wide and or not.

Set fuel sync to +4 and contact Frptuning.com for a retune. Hughes contracts his stuff out to PIE who cant tune much of anything. THAT is where I'd start along with verifying wires aren't crossing too much.

You'll need to also buy a wideband o2 for datalogging. It's an oxygen sensor that connects to a gauge inside the truck to tell you a/f ratio. You cannot properly tune without one. Factory o2 sensors are narrowband and incapable of telling you a/f

AEM is usually deemed the most reliable for the dollar. I have an innovate and never had an issue with it.
Just be sure to get the whole kit with the gauge. Much easier that way

I agree with everything @dapepper9 has posted. I would definitely get the tune looked at by another professional. The wideband O2 is a necessity in my book when it comes to tuning and datalogging. We have to know what is going on with the AFR, or Air Fuel Ratio.

Here is a link to the AEM Wideband setup and one for the Innovate like @dapepper9 and I have...
