Getting really excited for this thing to finally show up on the doorstep. I have an RA1 stock unit, so this thing will be leaps and bounds better than what I started with.
Barring anything being fatally wrong with it, it will give me loads of extra features as well as fix my broken fan speen dial (2nd position not responding) by turning it into a digital control.

If weekends weren't so important for me (most time per week I get with my family) I'd be wishing these few days away.

Any hints, tips or tricks you guys could recommend?

Was thinking of using a different launcher (CarWebGuru) straight away. Is there something better?

How easy is it to load movies, and music? Is USB transfer my best bet?

Thanks in advance for your help with this transition from plain Jane radio to something worth something.

I tried three different launchers on my T-style units and I liked CarWebGuru the best. I even purchased a few of their add themes. Keep in mind only the vertical themes will work from CarWebGuru and are indicated by a 'V' on the theme.

I don't believe there is a quicker way then usb to load movies and music.

You had the same radio I did. I would say to take pictures of your radio stations before pulling the old radio. Test the reset button on the new unit before changing any settings. Test your speakers by fading/balancing to each speaker individually. Listen for a change in fan speed when moving from 1-4 and test hot and cold temperature settings.

Another update on my PX6 from Phoenix.... Mine still has a problem booting up. Sometimes it's fine, sometimes it won't boot up at all...just runs through the pic of the truck screen then to the "android" screen... then to a black screen. Today, after starting the truck a few times waiting for it to boot up....I just started driving. The screen went black, but the unit still had power so it had a glow to the screen. Drove for 20 minutes and it never booted up...just the black screen. Shut the truck off and restarted it and it booted up fine. My ticket with Phoenix for this issue has been open for two weeks. I'm still waiting for them to send me an updated file. I think I've had enough of dealing with them.... it's probably time to just start the return process, while I still can.

I just checked out the Carsoll website for their PX6 units. One thing caught my eye with their return policy during the first 30 days. It says the unit must be "unused" and if a unit was not professionally installed, it's exempt from being returned. Doesn't sound good to me!

Wow! That is the nail in Carsoll's coffin. No way would I go with them after having the issues I had with these Radios.

Sorry to hear about your issues. I was hoping someone would get lucky with the new PX6 units.

So far everything works flawlessly on mine other than the console usb. The other USB works. Think it's a connection issue.

I spoke with Eugene from Carsoll and he said a defective unit is entirely returnable. So I don't know if that is merely legalese or something they loosely adhere to

Obviously CarWebGuru is my favorite choice. Lol
And movie/music transfer through usb is how I upload to the head unit. Center console for the win [emoji5]

Morning...purchased a used 2017 Dodge Ram with this Tesla unit in it. It's a model # FY-C9098 (low). The GPS is not working. Does anyone have an installation manual that I can download to take apart and put back together or any other assistance would be great. Thank you

If it were only that easy. Have you read or searched this thread to try to find an answer. There really is no manual.

Can you elaborate on "not working"?

I would check to see that the GPS antenna is connected and placed in an area that does not shroud it in a metallic housing. I placed mine on the top of my middle passenger side vent.

A metal housing can interfere with the GPS signal.

Anyone aware of how to change the PX6 stock load screen image and background image. Don't want to change the launcher, just the pictures. Gonna get fancy with actually pics of my truck, Photoshopped to make similar photos.
Is it possible to switch them out easily?

That is a good point about where the GPS antenna is located. Also, sometimes when the dash is put back together and you are trying to cram all those wires back inside things can get disconnected. It could be that simple.

No, because I actually installed that before I even started doing this YouTube thing. I've got so many requests about it, I definitely need to just revisit it and make a video. It's actually super easy to do, but I totally understand how It could be super intimidating. I mean if you don't do it right and that airbag pops off in your face, you are done!!! LOL [emoji23]

No I still don't have the compass working .......yet.

But on the subject of the steering wheel controls, I did the install a couple months ago and it was pretty easy. Especially after you get the airbag off. It worked great until.............I ended up with a bad battery and lost all juice to the truck which caused me to lose memory settings, etc. It also caused the steering wheel controls to stop working and the volume when in reverse to be muted. Going through all of the settings, normal, advanced, etc. I can't find anything to 1) turn the steering wheel controls back on, which of course you don't have to do when you do the install, and 2) get the volume turned on in reverse.

Going way back in the thread there is a page that was translated from the Russian site and it has a number of settings in different pages for the reverse volume, none of which I have. I'm guessing it has something to do with either the MCU version I have. Have you ever had this issue? I have attached my System Info page just for the heck of it.

To get steering wheel controls back, first go into the "Console" menu on the top Chinese menu bar and switch the measurement unit from "American" to "Metric" and back again...

For those of you with PX6 radios @Swissarmyknife was kind enough to post the menu options starting with this post...

https://www.ramforum.com/index.php?posts/2072307

You can format any picture to 740 x 313 pixels, label it "zxwlogo" and ensured it is formatted as a .PNG file (filename will be zxwlogo.png) and place it in the root of the SD card using the built in file explorer. This will replace the white truck with an image of your choosing.

Many stock images with transparent backgrounds can be had for free, pre-made (often from manufacturers) by Google image searching for "Ram 1500/2500 transparent background"

To change the boot image, download the image you want to the radio and then use the built in boot logo changer of the radio (the last option on the left hand settings menu pictured below).68db2219470beca0618a0df81fe7b79f.jpg

I can consistently get Android Auto to stretch to fit now, but only after reboot and immediately launching it. It only works once though.

It leads me to believe that the Chinese app is doing something at startup that forces this behavior.
