The cell Bypass Plug still gets enough signal to connect in many places which is why voice to text still works for those that did the 8.4 upgrade/conversion. Not sure if it would prevent a SW update or not, but it seems like those with the non factory 8.4 upgrades never get the updates (could be because vin doesn't match radio).

Hi guys. I was the one speaking to @Mpgrimm2 and he is correct. I have the newest OTA update from uconnect and it was supposedly successful. it is version 18.11.07 but now I cannot use any external audio sources. All other functions seem to be normal for the time being. After spending an hour on the phone with uconnect, they gave up and are sending me to the dealer as well. As of right now, I'm going to try to attempt a full factory reset of the stereo and see how that goes. Will report back

Ahh, didnt realize it still gets some connection. Thats too bad lol

When I installed my RA4 and used Alfa to check system info on the radio module, it showed the original VIN it came from. After installing the update/factory resetting, system info now shows my trucks VIN. Not sure if thats the VIN that UConnect sees or not, but its possible that transplanted units might still get the update.

USB download available from dealer. If you are still having audio EQ issues on you 2018 UAS radio (USA), check your application version from the dealer menu... If you're still on v 21.9 or 22.5 then the v22.6 may get you squared away. I've got a link in the 8.4 fw thread. Use at your own risk or get the dealer to install it.

The GPS issue that will pop up without this update first week of November is going to hit everyone that did the 8.4 upgrade/conversion as well as those with factory 8.4's.

Has anyone successfully gotten this update?

If so, can you input your VIN here:

and give a screenshot of what comes back (if the VIN is on there, feel free to block it out)? Im curious if it shows the latest version for you, or if its just the last one to be downloadable.

BTW, I stumbled on this and am curious if this is why the update:

Basically y2k-ish type deal for GPS. If the week rolls over and the head units cant handle it, strange things will happen and/or nav wont work at all.

My question (because it now directly concerns me) is what happens to transplanted RA3 or RA4 units, since they arent the correct originals for our VINs.

I reached out to someone on the Challenger forum that had a successful update. Hopefully my post goes up soon and they answer.

Looks like they were able to get the update about a week ago. Shows a screenshot of the new version installed and radio working.

Thank you. I just followed those instructions, and nothing, no effect whatsoever. Everything still locked, and the pop up is still there. I have an appointment with my dealer, D'Ambrosio's in Downingtown, PA, for Wednesday 6/18. Hopefully they can fix it, I hope I don't need a new unit. Either way, I will protest strongly if they try to charge me, since it was FCA forced update which bricked it. Will keep you all update.

I'd give it a restart or 2 to see if the same thing happens for you.

Well, the GPS makes sense now for updating older radios. Just updated 2 iPhone 4s for the same reason. Hopefully can get a download for my transplanted RA3 w/ nav.

Did mine about a month ago. USB down load. Had problems until I opened the file with winzip. It then down loaded with no problems at all. Been good ever since. Takes a 8gig usb.

That's probably the 17.43 version.

The new update is 18.something. Very limited release right now, not clear if it's downloadable yet.

I’m on 17.11 right now and did not want to update because of the cargo cam (future mod). But the nav is more important. Now if it kills BT audio ....

I would hold off on the update regardless. Still not 100% sure what it does, trying to talk to people that have gotten it for some more info.

Scarce, of course, because it doesnt seem very successful for the few that have tried

Mine updated yesterday after we got back from cardiac therapy. The update ran well and completed successfully. I'm impressed with the new map features. I haven't seen anything else yet. I won't get to drive my own truck until my cardiac surgeon releases me from quarantine. So my non-technical wife has to drive me everywhere.

BTW, don't let a surgeon tell you you can recover from open-heart surgery in 6 weeks. It'll take about a year before I'll feel normal. I can't drive, shoot (have to turn in my limited entry mule deer buck tag) or even sit in the front seat... Can't use my hands to sit or stand. Good thing I ran cross country when I was young and was a high school football and basketball official for a combined 24 seasons. The surgeon told me he's never operated on someone with zero fat on his heart. Why did my arteries get plugged up? I quit following my wife's recommended diet. She's a nutritionist and a homeopath. Plus she's still an impressive arm ornament. And yes, I'm bragging.
