Some background in a nutshell -
1997 Dodge Ram 4x4
5.2 reman (EVERYTHING replaced)
RV camshaft
Long tube 3” all the way back
Hughes AirGap intake
Hughes Big Gulp throttle body
Throttle body riser
New injectors
Billet fuel rails
99% vacuum lines replaced.
Time and sync set properly
Tuner was required
Symptoms -
Loping idle, sometimes stalling out
CEL codes -
lean condition 1,2,4,7
Misfire 1,2,4,7 (obviously)
EXTREMELY crappy economy
Runs fair at highway speed but super thirsty.
First, any suggestions on troubleshooting the lean / misfires?
I am going to swap some injectors around to see if the problem migrates.
As far as economy, I understand that with the Comp Cam install I’m not going to get super mileage but I expected better that 4mpg (not exaggerating). My knee jerk reaction is to pull this $400 cam out and chuck it in the bin and go back to an OEM or similar.
Remanufacture was done by Titan in Florida.
The floor is open for comments.
