What's with all of the hatred for these 2019 Ram's?

I don't about y'all but I get nothing but lip about my Ram 1500. Garbage trucks ,don't waste your money Fiat Chrysler is horrible etc...I don't get it. This is by far the best truck I've owned,not perfect but darn close.

There will always be Ram (Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep) haters because there will always be Chevy, Ford, Nissan, Toyota, etc.) lovers. In sociology it is known as tribalism, based on strong need to be identified by those sharing the same beliefs. Sufferers have a tendency to attach to more popular ideas or larger groups because they value (or need) wide acceptance over independent thinking. Of course, not every person having the same beliefs or opinions as the group is the result of tribalism, but it is a very prevalent occurrence.

I'd just rack up peoples' hatred to envy.

Best regards,
Dusty

Your lucky, my 19' has been towed 4 times since February for a dead battery and has other electronic gremlins and goblins

Love my '19 Ram 1500 quad cab. 12K+ miles and not problems. Talking with a couple of friends who have a 2017 GMC with 5K miles and 2018 with 10K miles and both have had their trucks in the dealership for multiple months at a time with automatic transmission problems. Both are in touch with corporate trying to exercise the lemon law. Don't know if this is a coincidence or not but one of them just rode with me on a 3 hour trip and couldn't believe that ride and options on my Laramie. May have a convert.

My new 2019 5th gen. Ram Laramie Sport 4x4 with 14789 miles on it now is doing just like the 2009,2010,2013 and 2015 Ram 1500,S ive owned. Absolutely no issues of any kind, on all my other Rams I put on an average of 120'000 miles. Never any mechanical issues only regular service at required times plus usually three sets of tires before trade in. I expect the same service from my new 2019!

I haven't heard anything outside of these forums, where there seems to be a decent number of "Man this thing is terrible!" people. Most of the people I know can't barely afford a $1000 truck so they're in no position to put down my truck anyway :anitoof::favorites37:

I bought a 19 because I wanted a new RAM. It really does not matter what others think because at the end of the day we are all part of the " RAM family" No I do not care for the 5th gen because they look so Toyotaish. BUT some of you all have taken these 5th Gens and made them really nice. So bottom line live and let live, evidently us crosshair lovers will come around.

I absolutely hate my '19. I loved my '10, '13, and '16 that I had. So, its not a brand hate from me.

I bought a 2019 ram classic. 10,000 miles on it . Never been back to dealer for anything except oil change. First time no defects in a new vehicle in 55 years of buying new vehicles .

I absolutely hate mine with the exception of the headlights, the big rear console, and the rear reclining seats. I traded in a '16 1500 crew cab sport 5.7 hemi on a '14 2500 Mega Cab diesel. The diesel couldn't stay on the road for more than a day or 2 without something breaking. I complained to the dealer and begged for my truck back. After multiple attempts of fixing the issues. The dealer didn't want to lose a sale, of course, so they got me into a '19 1500 crew cab laramie 5.7 hemi (we can discuss why I rushed into the '19 another day). I would absolutely take my '16 back every single day, and twice on Tuesday.

Almost 11,000 miles on the '19 and I still feel the same way. Here is a few reasons I dislike it in comparison to the '10, '13, and '16 I've had. Most notably the '16.

-Anytime I open the tailgate, I have to slam it, otherwise I get a notification on the dash that it is open, even when it is not. When it thinks the tailgate is open, the rear cargo light is always on. Even sometimes slamming it doesn't work and it has to be slammed multiple times. Speaking of the tailgate, it is now a button to open, rather than a latch, which probably contributes to the "open tailgate" message.

-A "Laramie" doesn't have bed lights, but the '16 sport did?

-Cargo light won't work unless a door or the tailgate is opened? '16 button allowed it to work at all times.

-Loved the sunroof in my sport, this laramie doesn't have one. (not really a Ram issue, just personal choice)

-Absolutely hate the tow mirrors, the sport had automatic folding mirrors, this laramie doesn't.

-Automatic high-beams shut off for every single f**k**g road sign, or porch light in rural Nebraska with no cars for miles!

-The automatic wipers have a mind of their own, dust will make them go high speed.

-Its a pain in the a*s hooking my boat up because I can't leave the door open while hooking up to it or the park brake locks and won't let me move until the door is shut, truck placed in park, and then back into gear.

-4-8 mpg hauling my boat, FOUR!

-Passenger cannot plug their phone in without it going to "CarPlay," same with one of the two ports in the rear. I do like the CarPlay feature for GPS though, the navigation built-in sucks around here.

-I always left my iPod in my '16 and connected. It didn't matter how long the truck was off, when I turned it back on, the iPod continued right where it left off, in this '19 I have to unplug it, and plug it back in every start of the truck, and it restarts the shuffle.

-Already have a belt squeak sound coming from the engine compartment somewhere when pickup is in gear.

-Brakes are already squealing.

-Paint quality is JUNK! I have not taken this truck on a gravel road once, and it has more rock chips on the factory fender flares with factory tires than the '16 and '14 mega cab with off-road tires combined!

-I can't tell you how many times the front and rear parking sensors THINK they see something and the truck slams into park with the parking brake engaged, damn near giving me whiplash.

-The computer MPG is at least 1.5-3 MPG off of what I actually get. This truck has horrible gas mileage.

I'm sure there's more than this, and to some people these things may not be huge issues, but a lot of them are a big deal to me. The cheaper and better equipped sport was a much better pickup. We've reached the day where so many people buy these trucks for commuting, that they no longer make them for people who actually haul anything more than luggage. As soon as I don't have negative equity, or can find a good enough deal to make up for the negative equity, this thing is GONE!

One thing I will say. When I went to the Dodge dealer in Terrell, Texas, the associate was walking us through the shop to show us something on my wife's SUV and pointed out all of the HD Rams and said "those things keep us in business. The transmissions constantly fail" But that is one shop guy. There were three of them in there though all new looking. Maybe its just the HD models.

I've had my '19 Rebel for just under nine months now and I have to say that I think I hate it except for:

* the exterior
* the interior
* the wheels and tires
* Alpine stereo
* the compliments I get on it every time I valet park it at the VA Hospital
* the compliments I get on it from random strangers on a weekly basis (if not more frequently)
* the power I feel from that 5.7 Hemi when I step on the gas to pass in traffic
* the adjustable air suspension
* remote start (so the A/C comes on before I get in on those hot summer days)
* remote start (so the heat, heated seats and heated steering wheel come on before I get in on those cold winter days)
* Panoramic moonroof/sunroof
* Power sliding back window with defrost
* deep well console
* cupholders galore
* rear floor storage compartments
* all-weather floor mats
* being able to see over most every other vehicle in traffic

Yeah, I guess there just isn't much I really like about it . . .

I can see where some of those issues would be very frustrating. Thanks for posting. Sorry its a disappointment. They seem so nice.

The new gasser HD models have an updated version of the 8spd automatic so I would hope those transmission problems drop off to next to nothing.Not sure if they're going to adapt the 8spd to the Cummins but you would think if it can handle Hellcat and Demon power it could handle the torque from that Cummins.
