I'm Wondering if anyone has had issues with long tube headers hitting their steering shaft. I read that some JBA LTHs has this issue and I currently do with the Pacesetter LTHs.

Wondering if any other brands have this issue and is there another way to correct instead of dimpling the headers?

Haven't heard anyone having issues with ARH or kooks. My kooks 1 7/8 cleared just fine

I remember reading early JBA 1 7/8" headers needed some dimpling. Nothing that couldn't easy be fixed during install though.

It's not going to hurt performance, at all, to clearance your primaries.

ARH and SW are the best options for best fitting headers, especially the ARH!

I put ARH long tubes no cats on my 2018 regular cab sport 4x4 and had a clearance issue, and had to take a long beefy screwdriver and dent them in a bit, not a perfect fit on my truck.

TTI longtube install to a 03 Dodge RAM QC : no steering gear contact but a did choose to remove the factory fuel line attachment guide bracket/clips (plastic) and reposition the fuel lines away from the driver side header as best I could. I also wrapped the lines with insulation material at the point of closest contact. No mention of this in the install guide. Most likely not related to late model year installs but something to look for perhaps. I had duel cats at the collectors also.

That is the first time ever that I have heard of a set of ARH not fitting correctly. Could you please post a picture of the problem area.

I had heard it on another forum I thought, had something to do with the 4x4 and being a regular cab? Picture stinks but it's the best I could do in the dark.

A lot of people have had problems with fitment of JBA's as that thread suggests, however this is the first report I've ever seen about the ARH. Thanks for the picture and I sent you a PM with a suggestion. I think this will surprise many people as ARH are known for their quality and fitment.

Does one remove steering u joint shaft or whatever to dimple the header or can you do it as is?

Your best bet is to mark the tube where it's binding, and pull the header to dent it.It takes a pretty good sized hammer and drift to dimple the tube far enough to clear the shaft, but if you are trying to do it while the header is on the truck, pull the wheel/wheel well liner and the steering shaft and you might be able to get at the tube enough to dent it.If you have access to a torch, you could "very carefully" heat the tube and then swat it. Did you try shifting the motor over on the mounts slightly, loosen both motor mounts and use a big pry bar or something similar to pry the engine sideways slightly, then re-tighten the motor mounts,it might gain you a little bit more clearance so the dent doesn't have to be as big

Before I beat on the header, I'd take a few more pictures and then contact ARH and ask them WTF. If you bought them from Matt at Moe's have you talk to him about the problems your having? I think he would be really interested considering the number of them he sells.
