First of all... disclaimer. I started with the regular factory halogens... then tried out the Putco Nitro Lux Pro LEDs for a couple months. Decent but doesn’t come close to HID light output.

Finally bit the bullet and went with the HR GTR HIDs. Around $300 for the entire kit.

First and foremost. Their customer service is AMAZING! From questions to call backs to details... absolutely top notch. These guys do it right, highly recommended. They ALWAYS got back to me with whatever questions I had.

The install was fairly easy. Pull the grill off. Remove the headlight assembly and take out the old bulbs. Next, screw in the new HID bulbs. Then you have to drill a 7/8 hole into each dust cap so that the wires can come out. Easy to do with a special cone shaped drill bit I found at Home Depot. Next, run the wires through and install the rubber grommet. Lastly, the Smart PWM resistors come with double sided super strong tape.... attach them to the metal frame below the headlight housing. Connect all the wires and you’re good to go!
Note, make sure all the surfaces are clean before taping. I used some rubbing alcohol.
I did have trouble with the passenger side headlight turning on... traced it to some loose wiring coming out of the PWM resistor.

Once fixed.. the results are amazing! Pics below.

These are the 35W 6000k bulbs

Note, I am also running Putco Nitro Lux Pros in my fogs.

I put the same brand in my Ram 2016 Laramie .Used 55 watt 5000k for low beams, then I put 35 watt 5000k for the fog lights. Let me tell you love driving at night on very dark roads ,HID lights put the led light to shame.

Awesome job madtrucker. I originally ordered the 55W but was told by many folks that it was a tad too much wattage, that I might have issues with melted projector bowls a,ong with shorter bulb life. So I switched to 35W.
Any issues on your end?

Also, how is the 5000k color? The 6000k is very nice, pure white with a slight bluish tint.

First off their is a bunch of anti HID light people on the site. But I have not had any problems with this set up with the 55watt hid low beams. Also the projector type head light housings are made for this type of lighting long ago. Now maybe if you put 55 watt in the fog lights that is a different story because they were never made for that type because its not a projector type housing. That is why I only put 35 watt HID in the fog lights. Also the products I put in the Laramie are lifetime free replacements bulbs and ballast. Purchased from Headlight Revolution.com The 5000k is the closest to white output you have . 6000k is a blue tint to it don't really care for it would not help with lighting the road any more. The 6000k is for looks.:banana-mario::banana-mario:

Appreciate the intel. Just ordered some 5000s and hope to see a bit more light output.. the 6000 is awesome but you’re right, it’s definitely got a slight bluish tint.

Yo Madtrucker
Just ordered the 55W 5000s low beams. Installing tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing the difference from the 6000s with 35W. Thx for the suggestions!

Update. So I put in the 5000ks with the 35W. A bit stronger light output (more clear) but the light is whitish/yellowish, almost looks like very strong halogens. They clash with my 6000K Putco LED fog lights.

So tomorrow in go the 55Ws with the 6000ks and let’s see how it looks. I think the 55W will make the 6000k strong enough even with the slight bluish tint. Stay tuned, I’ll post pics as well.

You will like the results. That’s what I have. They look very blue when you first turn them on, but after 30-45 seconds they will match the the LED’s perfectly

One of the first mods I always recommend with the projectors, nice work.
