I just put Redline 5w40 in my 6.4 yesterday along with a Fram Ultra oil filter. I'm wondering if I should've when with RP. I didn't realize oil filters utilize different bypass valves and the RP is a superior design. Should I be concerned? Also, after approx how many miles have people noticed a quieter valve train with Redline?

Fram Ultra is awesome, maybe try RP next time. If you have hemi tick, and it is lifter tick, you can expect them to go quiet between 500 and 1700 miles if they are going to go quiet. Mine 500 miles and it's been quiet now 8 plus years, Corey's 1700 miles, every ram is different. Moly takes pressure, hear and TIME.

How many miles on oil change? Can you get a hot idle video upload to youtube?

The oil which I just dumped had only 3000 miles on it. The reason for the quick interval was due to an increasingly loud knock/chatter during cold starts. I was certain it was a warped manifold but the dealer inspected both, and found no loose or snapped bolts.

At hot idle the engine is quiet with no ticking that I can discern. Regardless, I'll upload a video to get your feedback. Thanks

So has anyone figured out if you’re able to do an alignment after they do this “repair”

I figured they will have to cut the weld in order to change you alignment.

Talked to the technician that put the superb welds on my drag link.[emoji849]

He said they could actually put a new drag link on the truck and solve the problem. The new ones that are being made do not have the issue and do not need welded.

So they’re putting the cheapest Band-Aid they can on your truck so when you need an alignment next time if you come to the dealer they tell you you need to buy a drag link.

It all depends on where you live my brother! We have no inspection of any kind here in SC. I'm sure that will change eventually but hell its been 25 years so it might be awhile.

Same out here in ND and MN.

I would just buy my own new one and put it on. Then get them to cover the alignment check if you can.

The part they are welding is where they can center the steering, not for alignment. They could still center the steering even without grinding the welds, but they would have to do it the old fashioned way by messing with the rod ends and disturbing toe-in adjustment.

I was told by the regional service manager that we will get another recall to replace the “fix”, but because the manufacturer of the part is trying to keep up with new truck production the do not have a timeframe

Problem with that is you have not been checked off the list for getting the recall done.

Im sure there is a way around it but i want to cover my ass if something happens. So if i do it the way FCA wants it all falls back on them.

When you take in for the alignment they can mark off as repaired. You might even be able to submit receipt for reimbursement. You would be fixing it the right way. This is very similar to the tie rod ends that were recalled on the 4th gen I had. Once part has been replaced and they check it they can mark as inspected and all is well.

Similar thing happened with the pinion but too. I had that stupid hack fix done and it cost me money as they didn’t get the shims put back right and caused me a rebuild. I should have just forgone the “repair” as it was a hack job in the first place. Just my opinion but if they are not going to do it right don’t let them do it.

I’m holding my breath for it, LoL. If they don’t do it when I do my Thuren suspension upgrades I’ll replace it with some synergy parts.

And they expect you buy to be a new ram someday?

Let me treat you like **** during the warranty period, but hey come back when you need a new truck?

No joke it was something small like this is how I won 13 grand lemon case. They "fixed" it 4 times with a cheap fix, when a simple weld could have fixed it, but GM wouldn't even do that, lol. The courts are on your side if you can make a case.
