hey guys! First time ram owner and I’m having an issue with my cluster. It flickers bright to dim all the time, the weird thing is after it warms up it quits. It will flicker on the brighter setting and I adjust the brightness and it quits. Is there a recall or would re-flashing fix my issue? Thanks!

Ugh, sorry to hear that, is a known issues on the 13 clusters 7 inch. I assume it's the 7 inch evic. Knock on wood, my 13 has never done it, but seen many posts of the issue. Think mid 14 or 15 this was fixed.

Seen some say flash, but most say it's a faulty dash cluster. Dealers want $1,200 so if you get one, get used and have nav repair change the odometer for $99. If you get 14+ you may have tpms issues, not sure 100%. I never had single issue and my truck is early 13 model but read a lot of posts and only reason I know all this is one day I figure I will have issue and want to be prepared..since I always seem to get the issues on any vehicle. On ebay there are many $250-+++ but most I see say 14+ and that the 2013 tpms won't work. Sure there is way around it, I'd hate to buy a 13 cluster, spend like $450 with odometer correction then it fails.

They changed the frequency the TPMS sensors work on with the '14 models so most '13s will need a '13 cluster ( a few late build 13's have been found to have the newer system. What the OP might want to do is to have a dealer look up their specific truck and see what part number comes up for the EVIC. Then go get a used one based on that. There is no known way to make the TPMS work if you have the wrong frequency cluster. The idea of replacing the entire TPMS system has been floated, but to my knowledge no-one has admitted to trying it yet.

One thing that comes to mind since adjusting the brightness temporarily fixes the issue is that perhaps it's a bad switch? (the brightness wheel?)

Kad, would you happen to know a part number and good source for parts? It only flickers on the brightest setting, drop the brightness down one setting and it quits.

My 2015 did this. Dealer replaced the cluster as good will. They said the issue was a faulty cluster, not the brightness dial.

Unfortunately the new cluster is currently malfunctioning in a different way - speedometer needle jumps around; which they are currently doing a "software update" to fix.

Just left the dealer saying I need a new cluster, $1000!! I can live with the issue for now. They told me there is no update available for the 13 ram trucks

Tom

Find the year and part number of your cluster and let me know if it’s the 7” premium or the 3.5”

While rebuilding my truck we put a 7” cluster from (I believe) a 2014. Then a small fire at the body shop cooked the BCM and some wires. The fire damaged the new clusters shroud. But didn’t appear to have hurt the cluster itself. We grabbed another cluster with shroud and I have that 7” cluster only sitting in a box as spare parts. Here’s a pic:

I haven’t tested it to see if it still works. But I believe it does. I’d have pull mine to give it a test. But if it will work for you then I’ll let it go to you cheap.

I’m pretty sure it’s from a 2014 and it’s for gas not diesel.
