Hey all, thanks in advance for any advice. I have an 07 5.7 1500 that was having tranny slippage. I slowed down to a stop in drive and the engine came to a stop as it rolled to a stop. Wouldn't restart, not even a click. New tranny in and still won't crank.

Sounds like a grounding issue. Check and clean all grounds. Start with battery to block. Sand them down and white lithium grease on them. Did you try jumping the starter solenoid?

I'll go along with the bad ground issue. You could also jump the starter solenoid to see if it starts. Might also be a neutral safety issue. Good luck....

What happens when you turn the ignition key to the RUN position?

Is the red SKIM lamp flashing on the right lower side of the instrument cluster?

Does the instrument cluster power up like normal? Radio? HVAC controls? Blower motor?

Have you tried to manually engage the starter by jumping across the solenoid?

Wiggle the wiring on the left side of the steering column that comes from the ignition switch while rotating the key to the START position to see what happens.

Looking at the wiring diagram, FUSE #10 in the TIPM is the Park/Neutral Position Switch Sense (T41)

Try moving the shift lever through the gears and rotating the key to the START position to see if it will engage the starter. Make sure the parking brake is set while attempting this method.

So this morning I found the following: there was what appeared to be a ground strap that decintigrated on the passenger side head. I made a terminal and ran it to the firewall. Tried moving the shifter while turning the key. Moving the wires in the column while turning. Checked rest of the grounds. Got B+ at the starter. Got a screwdriver in there and got Sparks but no plunge or spin.

I feel like the key is not sending the signal but could my starter really have taken a crap at the same time?

If you have a good battery, jumping the starter solenoid should have “cranked”. My issues were grounds so I added more and haven’t had any problems since.
