Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone had a link for a heater core replacement on a 2014 1500. Temp is going down here in the north east and I can smell the antifreeze in the cab. Just keeps getting worse. Any help much appreciated. Cheers!!!

I don't have any direct resources to offer, but the steps might be in a regular Chilton manual - worth having around if you're going to be doing various repairs on your truck as it ages. I don't know if they still print real Factory Service Manuals but those would be even better... if more expensive and maybe not even something they print on paper anymore.

Strange your heater core called it quits at only 5 years old!

Thanks, and I agree with the lack of longevity. You would think that I would get another 10-15 years out of it but that doesn't seem the case. As we all know, they don't make anything like they used to. :33:

I did the evap core in my 2o1o. I had my hands on the heater core. I would have to think the 2o14 is very similar. I did this Took most of a day

Do a pressure test before you start digging in. Even though you smell it inside if very well could be in the engine compartment and the smell coming through the vents. Lots of possibilities

Thanks for the quick response Razz, but unfortunately my google search turned out exactly the same as that. Luckily I found a youtube video thats close to what I need, just taking the dash off.

my bad, I thought you were asking for a replacement core, not how to replace it.

Got an update here. After a day or 2 the smell went away but now 2 weeks later I pull up to a friends house, smelling very strong coolant inside the cab, open the hood and pooof, smoking like crazy and coolant all over the place. I let the engine cool for a while and started it back up to see if I can see where the leak was coming from. Well it seems like the seal on the water pump leaks. Coolant only comes out when the thermostat opens up. 88k on the pump. Welp, I would rather the pump than the heater core. I think its much less work......
