I dont ride in the back seat so why have a crew cab? each to their own but i prefer a longer bed to haul more stuff. if i wanted to haul people i wouldnt have a truck i would get a suv.

...or a minivan.

(What? I drove one for years. I ain't so over-proud that I won't 'fess up to having driven a mommy missile as my daily... damned things held an amazing amount of stuff once you took the seats out, and the payload wasn't half bad either.)

You might put quotes around the towing package for a 1500, but I wouldn't. It's a class IV hitch, wiring plus 7 pin and 4 pin connectors, fully integrated brake controller, tow/haul mode, transmission oil cooler, and manual towing mirrors.

Just about all the trucks come with the Class IV unless it's optioned not to have it and same for trailer plug. All of the 8spds come with the same transmission Thermal Management system. This pic is from the Tradesman options: Screenshot_20191017-210632-01.jpg

I’m still missing your point. The tow package adds some value over just a hitch and wiring. I have seen people complain they have a hitch and that’s it, so maybe that’s just a dealer added hitch. Ram does make many different options and trucks over the years so it’s hard to generalize.

I left off the 3.92 that’s part of the standard trailer package.

I looked at a 2019 quad cab 1500 express 4 x 4 in red pearl midnight edition . It comes with the subzero package and a trailer hitch for 25,400 USD . What a sweet ride.

Mike
What is the subzero package

Yes Vans are nice. I bought a 42" riding mower at Home Depot 20 years ago & fit it in the back of my wifes caravan back door closed & latched.

This will be my 2nd year in the snow. Mine was awesome last year, even out on the lake when bumper was pushing snow so I could get to my favourite fishin hole. Duratracs did a fantastic job. Even pulled a few out that ventured too far off the beaten path.

Do you have the "Auto" flavored transfer case or the 2wd, 4hi, 4low only type?

I don't have Auto. 2wd, 4Hi and 4Low. 4Low was used to pull guys out, and 4Hi while driving otherwise. Highway I will almost always go 2wd, city 4wd and 2wd, depending how dry the pavement gets in winter

There's always compromises. We use ours to commute back and
forth as we're snowbirds so a crew wasa better for us vs having
to stuff things in the bed, and as you know when on the road whatever you're looking for will be no where NEAR the tail

The Crew with a 6'4" bed would serve all purposes but that damn thing is LONGGGG...I would cuss it before praising it before it was over.

The Quad would also be a good choice but only if you HAD to have that 6'4" bed. I used to like the look of them but the more I looked that little bitty door with the handle just didn't look right (to me). And they're cramped vs the crew

Then there's resale and/or trade value down the road.
By FAR the most popular setup is the Crew Cab 5'7" bed with a 4X4
THAT'S the truck most everyone WANTS so worth more on trade
(Just MO on this)

Finally ended up with this 2011 Big Horn Crew 4X4
Done in Deep Ruby Red Pearl Metallic
Believe it or not it has 14,200 actual miles!
Orig tires still like new
Truck has been garaged since day one, and looks new in out and under
I can live with the 545RE 5 spd trans to get one like this
Has the hard Ram tonneau as well as the nice wheel to wheel side steps...exactly the truck

Unbelievable
