Hey, new to the forum. I have a 96 5.9 1500 auto that's started making a metal rubbing noise after I did an oil change on it. The noise seems to get worse after coming to full stop or taking a corner in either direction. Oil pressure gauge has been acting normal. I'm having trouble hearing exactly where the noise is coming from so if anyone has any ideas based off the symptoms any advice is appreciated. The noise isn't a grinding noise but more as if a dust cover is dragging along a rotor but what throws me of is not being able to tell where exactly the noise is and it happening worse at complete stops. It does happen while the vehicle is moving too just not as bad and it doesn't happen every stop or corner.

Check the brake pads?
I had a quick look and nothing seemed off, but I'll have a look more into it when I get a free hoist at work, thanks for the reply. Could it be brakes even with the noise present when fully stopped?

Not when stopped no. I missed that part. I would get a stethoscope and climb underneath and try to narrow it down. Could be transmission pump. Do you notice any issue with the transmission?

Will do! Not sure if anything is out of the ordinary as it's the first auto I've had in years but shifting doesn't feel hard and seems to happen when it should from what I can tell but I'll definitely give that a shot. Thanks for the advice

Found it, turns out it is where the bottom of the exhaust where just after the 2 pipes meet and turns to one and has enough space to move around and rub very occasionally
