By happy coincidence, my RAM fits perfectly in my garage. I live in a subdivision east of Houston, and the 2 car garages there are medium sized, at best. At the back of the garage I have a raised concrete pad about 3" tall. The RAM just fits under the open garage door by 1", and pulling the front wheels forward until they touch the raised pad clears the garage door by 2" when its closed. PERFECT!

Good deal. Always best to garage em if you can.

Fortunately I have a pole barn with a 12' bay door so my 2500 lives there. A standard residential garage would be a no go for my truck

I am fortunate to have a garage that can fit my truck or a mega cab, the door is 8' tall but only single wide. That's why I added power folding mirrors now I have no troubles.

Mine fits height wise in my garage but because of my tool box and a metal shelf it doesn’t for length wise even on an angle across it. I stayed at my parent’s house this weekend and they have a 3 car garage and the third car garage is basically storage for odds and ends since they don’t have a basement or attic. When I backed my truck in, I had to go at a pretty good angle and I was just able to fit by a few inches. So, there it’s either my truck and storage or their 2 cars and storage. Lol. These builders really need to learn how to build a “real” garage!! Lol

Over the summer I actually made the door openings to my garage taller than they were. RAM wouldnt fit before, we had 6'6" doors. 9' wide so that wasnt an issue, but height wise it needed another 3" or so.

Doors over 7' are usually custom order and expensive, so I went with a 7' tall door which gave plenty of clearance but was still relatively inexpensive (it helped that Home Depot had them in stock and I had a 10% off coupon).

Surprisingly it wasnt all that much work, just laborious. We have 2 separate doors so I got to do the job twice :) Raised the beam above each door, added 6" spacer, lowered beam and fastened it all back together. The hard part was getting the vinyl siding and trim off, first.

Unfortunately, I have no pad and that's why my Ram sticks out about a foot! I knew this before I bought the truck. I keep it in my driveway. I purchased a Covercraft WeatherShield Hd for it when we get the bad weather. (https://www.carcoverworld.com/covercraft-weathershield-hd-car-cover) Nothing can be better than a garage!

My 1500 Crew Cab 6 foot bed fits in my garage, with about two inches to spare. Need to pull RIIIGHT up to the chimney to close the door. Have to open the garage door, go out, around the truck, and back in to get to the drivers side.

But it fits, and is a great help in the wintertime for sure.

Mine barely fits, and when lifted, it was sooooo close with shark fin...when I pull in, and sensors flat line, I inch in. Barely fits.
5th gen, don't see it fitting.

Just makes it. 1" to spare front and back. 1 more same size door as left door shown to the left. They had to be special made for their 11' width and 7'7" height. I have to pull trailer out to garage the Red Beast when real bad Hail forecasted. Left side, well dat full of hay, LMAO>...

Rebuilt my in city garage about 15 years ago. Never anticipated a full size truck, but did put an over sized door on, 9 feet high and 8 feet wide. Truck fits by an inch or so front and back, a 5th gen likely won’t fit.

We don't have cold where I live, but keeping the blistering TX sun off the truck really helps. Garaging also lets us load up and go and return even in torrential rains without getting a drop on me. I too think garages need to be made to fit a truck.

Have you found any marring to your Ram finish from the cover?

Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
No marring, the cover fits like a custom made suit. The cheap one I bought from eBay would balloon up with a gust of wind. Not so with this one. In this case I got what I paid for.

I made mine fit my truck only because I needed to apply paint coating and the truck needed to be covered and somewhat climate controlled for 24 hours between coats :)

Funny thing about my garage is there is enough room for an 8' tall door, but when they built it they went SUPER cheap and did a 6.5' tall door.

No hope of it fitting in my garage due to 1. An almost horder-esque amount of items, and 2. The doors are too narrow.

I can toss the junk, but would need to sell a kidney to do the structural work for the door. A cover is a viable option though.

I'd have to turn it sideways lol, 30'W x 20'L....it's just long enough to put the cars in and wide enough to fit both cars with lots of room to spare on either end. I can't even put one of my
cars in the small garage lol.

I have to go in on an angle as well. It's tight both front and back though.

2017 1500 CC, short bed.

New home, built last December, didn't have a truck, then.

Looked at plans, planned on 16-17 Ram, published specs were, I think 229 inches front to back.

Got truck last January, thank God it has tailgate cam.

It's aimed perfectly. I can back the truck in, and when I can't see the floor beyond the rear bumper, I've got almost 5 inches front to door of garage.

Whew! I'd have hated to have to keep it outside.

Wish now I had modded the garage plans a tad.

Love and learn.
