So I’ve ordered my TC oil. Now I’m ordering Red Line with friction modifier for my rear dif, but my front dif does not require the friction modifier.

My question is, does it matter if I buy oil with friction modifier for my front? Amazon is not giving me an option for Red Line 75w85 without the modifier.

I don't believe Red Line gear oil comes without the friction modifier. I wouldn't worry about it, I've had Red Line 75w90 in my front diff for a few years now with no issues.

Redline has a spec page, their general use fluid has some LS in it but is general use so can be used across the board even with open diffs. The thing is because there hasn't been changes in gear fluid like there is with engine oil, redline stopped updating the spec, because the fluid remains unchanged since the last time the spec changes for gear fluids, It is basically the same thing for most gear fluids. So look on redline's site, then click oem compatibility, you will see that oil meets most of the specs and not the NS version. The NS version is for manual transmissions and ancient gear boxes. It is an interesting point and a good question, I often wonder about that, but redline has always said and spec'd thier version with additive for all of those applications, so I just go off what they say with it. Same thing with most gear fluids such as m1, they just have a "general use" fluid and it has some modifier in it.
