Hey guys! My check engine light came on last night and the only code stored is a P0507. The truck runs great and super smooth idle with no starting issues at all. I tried to clear it but it wouldn’t clear. From searches on here and with Google nothing has come up for our trucks other than it’s an idle air control issue. I couldn’t find a replacement idle air control valve either so I assume it’s part of the throttle body that has to be replaced by replacing the throttle body?? I cleaned the throttle body a short time ago with it still on the truck but it wasn’t that dirty to be honest. I don’t have a real tune on the truck but I did have a local tuner turn off MDS and increase the throttle sensitivity by 10% but that’s it. I only run 91 or better gas. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Should be idling high with P0507 code.......PVC valve every changed out....could be stuck open. Look for other possible vacuum leaks.......no leaks maybe try another TB

How short time ago and did you clean it just because or because you got a code?

All engine mods would be helpful.

Local tuner turning off mds and increasing throttle sensitivity sounds intriguing. Does he have the PCM software or use an hp tuner credit, maybe you have a handheld?

Oil catch can, recent tune up,180 thermostat, mechanical fan is deleted, fans tuned to turn on at 180, Vararam air grabber, magnaflow cat ack exhaust, otherwise its stock for maybe less than another week until I put on my JBA 1 7/8” long tube headers and catless y pipes. The local tuner was using his laptop so I don’t know what software he was using but I think it was HP Tuners. He does a license for my stock tune.

It has been 3 months but maybe only 3000 miles since it was done. I have never changed the PCV valve but when I called Auto Zone, they can’t get them.

Did you already take it back apart and put back together? Chances are there is a leak. Is the Vararam air grabber new addition? You can take off pcv and run a wire through it, or soak it in acetone or something.

No. I cleaned it on the truck with carb cleaner and a rag.

I'd still check all the connection points.

What are you doing for the pcv breather, does it route into the vararam duct? Never looked at one up close, what about the IAT sensor? Or are you just running a small filter off the driver’s side for the pcv ?

I’ve got the chrome breather coming out of the tube on the drivers side. I’ll keep looking for a pcv valve to replace the 1 in the truck. Maybe I’ll take the throttle body off the truck and really clean it and replace the gasket as well??

Spray a little carb cleaner around the mates to check for leaks, could be a little difficult with the huge open filter and induction plastic but the engine will stutter a bit with direct ingestion.

The throttle body uses a reusable rubber gasket. Get him to reset your fan temps to at least 195 with a 180 thermostat, otherwise your fan will never turn off, even on the highway.

You are absolutely correct as they do not. When I go get a dyno tune I was going to have him raise the fan temp and add another 10% throttle response as well

I tried replacing my PCV valve and double checked all of the oil catch can hoses and they’re all tight. They’re brand new and might have 50 miles on them. The intake air temperature sensor is tightly in its intake hose hole. The clamps above and below it are tight. The only thing I did before I got the check engine light and these codes was to put the oil catch can on. I’m not sure what’s causing this light. But here is a screenshot from the scanner tool that I am using with the OBDLink MX+

I would bypass catch can with factory hose if you saved it then.......don't think it's a coincidence.....I believe you answered your own question

You could very much be right. I just don’t know what would cause it since all of the hoses are tight and all of the fittings are sealed to the catch can. I cleared all of the codes but that 1. So far the light is off and when I used my remote start, it stayed running this time. I also haven’t sprayed carb cleaner around the throttle body or fittings yet as it’s in the single digit temps until at least Wednesday. I watched the idle and it’s between 750-900 rpm.

Idle is still high.....so something not right.....750 about right if tuner move up......if stock to high....900 to much for all the above
Maybe they forgot to put o-ring seal on catch can or its pinched or cut.

I’ll probably start spraying carb cleaner around everything and see where the leak is. Just weird that it just started happening after soliciting an easy thing to install. I’ll let you know what happens later today.

I would think you could actually hear it if it was leaking around catch can.

I am having the same issue. We have a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 3.7L V6 and the P0507 code keeps hitting. We replaced the throttle body which includes the IAC sensor inside of it, and checked all the hosing around the intake and the resonator. We checked the PCV valve and it seems to still be working, although I will probably replace it just in case. The truck doesn’t seem to be idling high when we get the P0507 code so I am starting to run out of ideas and might have to take it to a shop.
