So my son has a 2018 2500 too and this morning he was rear-ended by a Hummer H2. Bent the bumper down and in and he had an insert in his hitch and it bent that way down too. The bumper corner hit the bedside and poked a hole in it so probably have to replace the bedside. The bigger issue here is he has his camper out there and they told him he might be moving on to the next site in a couple of weeks but now he has no way to tow his camper. So he will either need to get it fixed ASAP (like by the end of next week) or get a rental truck and have his truck shipped to his next site when it is fixed or drive his truck as is and pay to have the camper towed. He said he was stopped at a light and the guy was probably doing about 30 MPH when he hit him. The guys tow hook was bent way up so it must have been what hit the hitch. The hitch is pushed into the spare tire. He is in North Dakota and as far as he knows there is only 1 body shop in the town he is in. His next site will probably be back here in PA or possibly in Texas so quite a long haul to have either the truck or camper towed. The guy had Arizona plates on his H2 so probably never drove in snow before.

Yeah. He said he talked to the other guy's insurance today and got the ball rolling. He said if possible he may have them fix the bumper and hitch until he gets to the next site then have the bedside fixed there. But he said the hitch is pushed so far in that it squished the spare tire down. Dunno. He explained to them how time sensitive this is. Just sucks. Most likely if it isn't fixed in time he may have to pay $2000-3000 out of pocket to have either the camper towed or to have his truck delivered to wherever he is going. Don't think the insurance would pay for that?

Hopefully he will get a rental truck

I’d tell the guys insurance I needed a 2500 truck and I am going to be in Texas so have my truck shipped there when it’s done. You shouldn’t be out any money at all since it was 100 percent his fault. No way I would pay a dime.

Hopin' so. And he does use it for work. His company pays him extra for him using his own truck. He had a Z71 1500 then an F150 (both company owned trucks) but they kept bottoming out. Then they told him he had to go to North Dakota and he wasn't allowed to tow with a company truck so he bought this 2500 late July. He has put 11,000 miles on it since he got it.

You can see the hitch inset bent down and twisted
