I picked up a leftover 2018 2500 4x4 CTD a short while ago. While running fast down the interstate (75-85mph) it seems like there is very little steering feel when driving straight. If you imagine a 360* protractor, I have about 20* of steering wheel movement with very little steering change. So, I found myself requiring a lot of steering input to keep up with the changes in the road surface and dealing with side winds.

Is this normal for this vehicle or no? My old ford was not this way, so either I need to just get used to it, or get it in for service.

Sounds like an alignment issue. Keep in mind that you can be within factory specs, and have sloppy unpredictable steering. I took the Thuren specs to an alignment shop and had them dial in to that. Better handling, and better tire wear since doing that.

I had a similar "issue" though not as severe. Mine was maybe 10% movement. It was nothing that I considered an issue but I can say that after adding a steering brace/pitman arm brace (in preparation of adding larger wheels and tires) all of the extra movement in my steering wheel went away. It's a cheap ($150) upgrade that made steering responsiveness and feel a bit better and at a minimum should reduce wear on steering components in the future.

Having a little bit more "dead zone" is a lot better than having very little. I had a Chevy that had 2 directions, left and right. No dead spot in the middle. You sneeze and the truck wiggles in the lane. Not good. Made it look like I was drunk and wandering. Sold it before fixing it.
