First off, I like (and own) a 4th gen Ram. But what is the attraction to still buy a Ram Classic when the 5th gen has been out a while? Is it Price, Style, Familiarity, lack of specific features on the 5th gen ....other??

Just curious what factors motivated you to buy a Ram Classic instead of a 5th gen?

For me;

A) styling - didn't like the looks of the 5th Gen (no offense meant, just my personal preference)
2) Price - the incentives on the Classic were exceptional
3) Styling - Still don't like the looks of the 5th Gen
4) Bugs - never liked buying the newest model until the bugs were worked out
5) Did I mention Styling?

all personal preference, but I would not hesitate to buy another Classic. love it.

I wanted 3 things, the 5.7 Hemi, the 8 Speed Transmission and the 6'4 bed. I got all of those for the low low low low $20,000's. You cant beat that, and I am not a fan of the new design. I love the Classic!

Because the 4th gen Ram is sexier.

And i dont want all the extra EPA bull crap that is on the 5th gen. The 4th gen already has to much of it.

As far as I know, you're forced to get eTorque on a 5th gen with the pentastar. That kind of ruins it for me.

Unless it’s been changed the 5th gens are available with the hemi.

I should have worded that better. What I meant was, if you want a 5th gen with the pentastar, they only come with eTorque. On the 5th gens with the hemi, you have the choice of eTorque or non eT.

I wasn't sold on the new body style in 2019, had a 2015 which I loved and there were many performance and style add ons I knew what to buy. I usually don't like the first run of any new vehicle.
So I was in search in Dec 2018, and saw they had the Classic...so I found what I wanted, ordered the same or similar parts as my 2015.
But as I see the 5th gens modded and more accessories come out, they are growing on me.

But if I sold my truck today..which I'm considering...It'd be a 2020 Grand Cherokee Limited X....

Because they didn't offer the Warlock in the 5th gen.

Actually, I preferred the 4th gen style, and being the last of a generation most of the bugs are gonna be worked out.
However, that sweet 12" screen looks nice though (although I've heard some horror stories about it...)

I'll be honest one of the MAIN reasons I bought my truck is because of the way it looked.
IMO the 5th gens are a step backwards in the looks dept.
Which is why I chose to supercharge mine instead of buying a new one.
By the time I'm ready to buy a new truck the second generation TRX should be hitting the market.
That's the plan at least.

(1.) Price
(2.) First year model
(3.) Style
All these trucks have way more features than I need.
My 2019 Classic looks really good to me and the wife, has the hemi, ram boxes, blacked out, 20" wheels, some creature features but fairly plain by todays standards (which are a world away from my "in the day" trucks).
Did I mention price, the dealer was wanting it off the lot I guess.
If they would have sold me a new model for the same money I'd still be driving the Classic though. Had a terrible experience with a first year auto many years ago and it really soured me on them.
Thirdly I like the look of the Classic more which is subjective and in no way a dis on the new model. To each their own and I hope the gen 5's are trouble free.
Best wishes.

If i was shopping it would be because of the reg cab. Yeah lots of people buy those contrary to legend.. I bet the whole reason classics still exist at all is because fca didn't get reg cab assembly lines set up in time for 5th gen. There was that whole trade agreement thing where they were going to close Saltillo and stop making trucks in Mexico, then did a 180 on that it probably messed up all sorts of schedules.

I have to say for me the 4th gen Rams are the nicest looking production trucks on the road. The new 5th is nice but not as nice in my opinion. I would go as far to say the 4th gen Rams are the 2nd nicest looking production truck ever built. The top one is the original Power Wagons.
The pricing on my loaded 2018 Outdoorsman was to good to pass up as well. So in my case looks and price were the deciding factors.
In 5 or so years when I'm ready to look for a new vehicle it will be exciting to see what is happening in the market. Things are moving fast and whether it's diesel, plugin hybrid or hybrid or maybe even hydrogen my guess is that straight gas engines may be a less attractive option. Exciting times we live in folks.

I like the 5th gen in white or black with same color bumpers. That's an improvement from last year. But i'm still not into the blandish new style for all i care and i'll look at Chevy and Ford options if i was looking to replace my truck today or in the near future.
Just look the at the subforum sections in our forum, 4th GEN 1500 still rules the class i don't care how many inches of screen they added to the stereo in the new ones hahaha. Is not even close in looks, especially after adding mods to each truck. A modded 4th gen 1500 is still the meanest mfcker truck in it's class, and the spot won't go away anytime soon.
