Why didn't they make it run off Bluetooth? This plugging my phone in every time I want to use it simply sucks! Is there a reason they didn't make it run off Bluetooth?

Its not an issue with RAM but an issue with Android Auto itself. It was supposed to be designed to work over bluetooth but as of right now it has to be plugged in. Blame Google...not RAM.

Android Auto is kinda crappy anyway. The last update helped a good bit, but it's a long way from perfect.

I noticed the navigation is a bit confusing. I do like how the messaging works though. However, I keep forgetting my phone in my truck when I get out lol

Google Pixels and Samsung S10s are supposed to be able to connect over BT. I tested my Pxiel 3a, but it wouldnt work w/o USB.
Maybe uConnect will need an update to support it?

You would think that it will be part of an update someday. What's weird is that if I don't plug in my phone, Android Auto turns on anyway, but doesn't work over Bluetooth. Why make it turn on if it won't work. Maybe someday. Then it would be very cool to have

Is there a way to make it come on without tapping the Mic ICON in the corner?

Figured it out. It's in Settings. Works great

I don't care for the Google navigation. Admittedly I haven't used it much though

Unfortunately very few OEMs support wireless Android auto or wireless CarPlay. Both of them connect to the head unit over a wifi direct connection. Bluetooth doesn't have the required bandwidth. Bluetooth is just used to create the wifi connection which is all custom to android auto and carplay. This requires a certified wifi adapter in the stereo. Looks like Ford Sync 4 will have support as they begin to roll it out. No news from uconnect.

You will require a new stereo to work, maybe like the 4th gen swapping out a newer revision will be easy.

There is a wifi carplay adapter available for $160. It doesn't work with all stereos and you may loose some features over plugging in. I haven't found any adapters for wireless Android auto.
