Now if we could just gather the claimed "power gains" and some documented dyno plots to see how well the gains stack

I tried that but found each tuner claiming the other tuner's data was incorrect. I am not able to vet the data so I dropped the project. Just too much controversy.

My main reason for a tune is to shut off the EGR, the rest of the features are frosting on the cake and the technical data I don't care about. I have used both GDE & SFT tunes and find both to be credible, increase mileage and improve the truck's performance. Both great tunes!

There is a person on another forum doing several field trials using GDE and SFT. I am anxiously waiting to see his results. IMO field trial data would be better than any statistical data.

Anyone noticed a loss in mpg with SFT? In just installed mine and had a drop in mileage. I was thinking maybe a regen or something was going on. I'm going to drive some more and check it out. Just curious

Have never experienced a loss in mpg. Maybe you haven't given it enough time or miles to know exactly what it's doing.

My experience with the SFT tune is it gets the same local MPG as my GDE tune did. When driving on the mountain grades it is better than I did with the GDE tune. I'm not giving actual MPG figures because I have too many mods that affect mileage negatively. Just trying to answer your post that SFT gets good mileage. If you don't get the expected mileage be sure to contact SFT as Jimmy can and will work with you to make it run as advertised.

Jimmy has been awesome, I really like the tune so far. Runs much better very pleased. Just a huge mpg drop. Thinking is just because I haven't driven it enough

I've just started the process of shopping for a tuner or something to give me more power and better fuel MPG while not towing my travel trailer. GDE says "sold out". Is this due to the Government making tuners illegal? Does "Sold out" mean no longer selling? What are my options or am I too late to the game?

I answered on the other forum where you posted.

After much delay, mostly on my part, (partially on sending wrong info to get tune configured)
installed trans tune last week from SFT, recalibrate twice because of the bumpy roads in illinois, seemed very smooth, and shifts great. MPG went from 22 ish to 23+ (had 25 on highway)

Installed ECU software today, wow, a new truck, drives and accelerates nice, plenty of off the line increase. Everything seems smoother, need more than the 20 min drive I had over lunch.

Some SFT users are not aware of how the SFT ECM tune changes ECS & TSC functions. for example, when you go into 4WD Low the tune automatically turns the ECS system off.

Att is my updated instruction PDF file

My 2018 ED was like that from factory,
press the slippery road button, and it turns off the TCS
hold the slippery road button for 10 seconds(or until it dings and says stability off) (I always thought you had to do it in park)

I believe this was updated with the AEM flash, because the TCS system was what they used to defeat the emissions testing. (at least that was how VW did it, which I am surprised they haven't gotten dinged for their gas vehicles, as enthusiast have complained for years they cannot turn off the computer stability control completely)

woofie2,

When in 4WD Low did it automatically shut down the ESC (not TCS) or did you have to be stopped, in neutral and hold the button down for 5 seconds?

I jumped in fathers day and only got it loaded about a month ago.

1. If i have to take the truck in for warranty and i put the stock tune back on, can the dealer see that the ECU had been tuned. AKA leave a footprint.

2. If i choose stage 1 now and get an aftermarket exhaust later and want stage 2, how much to upgrade

3. If i do a complete def/egr delete down the road will the tune still work or will i need to have another tune

Talked to GDE and they said probably 6 months till their back up and rolling. Which ever one i can catch on a sale first i will probably go with as they both look to have good reviews.

1- Updating software and returning it to stock will increment the flash count in the ECU, showing how many times the software was changed or updated. there isn't anything the dealer can see that shows what was loaded on the ecu. If you are worried, buy a new ECU and swap it out, or don't mess with it until the warranty is over.

2- Yes, or you can buy both tunes upfront for a $100 more at time of purchase, or an additional fee later.
3- Good question, I am not positive on that one, the EGR can be disabled at any level, and it is an option when ordering.
