20191209_145318.jpg As, I had mentioned before, two months ago my 2014 5.7 snapped both sides manifold bolts (two per side). I had a small local shop take care of the issue. They removed the bolts (all of them, according to the tech working on it), belt sanded the manifolds and reassembled all, for $758. Truck has been driving good and the issue never returned.
Today, I was changing engine oil/filter and noticed, that one of the bolt heads wasn't there on passenger side. It appears, that the bolt was never retrieved in the first place. The cut looks way too clean for a broken one.
I am not experiencing any tapping noise or any issues at the time. The manifold is still held by the next bolt, so I don't expect anything to develop. But then again, that puts double tension on that other bolt. I haven't talked to the shop yet and they promised me two year warranty. What would you do? Have them re-do that side or wait tii the other one breaks? I will call them tomorrow morning and discuss the options.

Have them replace that bolt and all of the others around it as they have probably been stressed out from having to help hold the manifold for the broken bolt that wasn’t fixed.

Might be able to drill and extract it without even removing the manifold, would need a direct angle.

OEM bolts have never been stainless or zinc plated, so that’s a new clamp IMO(unless the flash is making the sheared scree appears silver).

It is silver in color. Don't think they are stainless, though. The tech also mentioned that they use softer bolts than OEM in order to avoid snapping. The shop specializes in exhaust, experienced with RAM manifold issues and has been around for about 20 years. I hope they know what they're talking about.

Yeah the tech doesn’t know what he’s talking about, higher grade bolts are an improvement in tensile and shear.

Grade 8.8 is the same as OEM, 10.9s are an upgrade. Either your flange is warped or they over-torqued that bolt and it sheared.

I agree with you on higher grade. And specifically asked them about higher grade bolts, but they confirmed that the shop has been using lower grade for years and never seen customers coming back for warranty work, go figure...
Probably over-torqued, no tapping sound whatsoever, though. I will update you guys tomorrow on what they say. Appreciate the input.

Replacing the stock bolts.(1out and replace) then next was the best thing I did to avoid any more ticking... m8 bolts 1.25x 40 with washers and lock washers as far as the broken bolt 1 being going you should be fine... I had 1 snapped on mine the rear most.bottom bolt on passenger side and I just left It didnt feel like getting deep into it...i think if 2 were broken it may be another story..

Good luck to you. Hopefully extracting that bolt won’t be difficult. I have a new driver side head because apparently my shop couldn’t do that. They paid for it lucky me.

There’s no hole in the cylinder head there. It’s just an empty hole in the manifold. On the passenger side there is only 2 bolts per exhaust port except for cylinder 2 has 3. That picture shows cylinder 8, only 2 bolts, 1 up top and 1 on the bottom.

You’re manifold is also missing the heat shield.

Soooo. there's no missing bolt then? . No wonder the bottom of the hole looks very smooth, like it's machined. That's the best news I've heard today! Thank you.
Oh, and the shop left the heat shields out on purpose. They said, that's how they've been doing it. Supposedly, "heat shield are adding to the expansion, by blocking the heat exchange". Sounds like a load to me...but that's what they said. Anyways, this makes me feel much better, don't want a pissed off tech working to correct a screw up
There's a lot of knowledge on this forum! Great source of information and help.

Check out this tutorial at 17:10.
It shows that there are only two bolts in cylinder 8 exhaust port. Just like Tach_tech said:
