I have a 2019 Ram Laramie, V6, 4000 miles. I am having a devil of a time getting the gas nozzle to stay on as I’m fueling. Is anyone else having this problem? I have to hold it on to refuel. I try to set nozzle to auto fill and it keeps clicking off. I have only got it to auto fill once. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Try rotating the nozzle off straight up and down. It seems to work for me.

Maybe not jam it in so far. I've had it occur a couple of times since I bought mine a year ago July. Both times the pump was really pumping hard, like a commercial semi diesel pump.

Usually we hear about California owners having trouble with the wacky nozzles out there.

Your issue isn't with the capless system. It's likely with the anti-syphon flap

Something with the vent system is not working. As the gas goes in the air has to be purged to get more gas in the tank .I would look at the EVAP system. Had that on my other Ram was so bad I had to change the gas tank.

I'm out here in California and I've had the same issue with the gas pumps clicking off. I have to hold the lever down and press the pump into the tank to keep it running. I'm still working out if there is a way around it via positioning etc...

The only issue I have had is getting the tank full. Most pumps seem to shut off around 7/8 of a tank and don't want to actually use the full tank. If I run the pump on the slowest setting, it does a little better but some pumps still won't fill past this point.

I'm a really security type of person. Just recently went back to Dodge and bought a 2019 RAM Big Horn 1500 Crew Cab. I've always had either a locking gas cap or locking fuel door on my trucks. Was kind of disappointed that there isn't a locking fuel door available for the new body style 1500, but a locking fuel cap isn't possible either. About the only think I've found to complain about this truck....

Locking gas doors aren't a good "solution" of your issue. I've had capless tanks on cars and trucks since 2008. There are milliions of cars and trucks out there with them. The C7 Corvettes have a locking door that on numerous occasions (check out Corvette forum. I owned one) that have broken and failed to open. Now you have to pry the door open a bit and force the painted cover off to get to the plunger to release it or you have to pull the rear wheel off, pull down the wheelwell inner to get to the other side of the plunger. Many Corvette owner disable the locking "feature" so they don't get stuck at a gas station near empty with no way to put gas in it. I fixed mine within a week of ownership.....
A capless gas system is a non-issue

Mine can be a pain but I was told to push it all the way in so the flap is opened more and gas doesnt back up. Works alot better now. When new it was a pita.

Thanks for the response, but I've had both locking fuel doors and caps on two of RAM's and one Tundra. It's not that I live in an area where I HAVE to worry about vandelism, but my past occupation has taught me that it's never a problem to be too careful. I have had locks in my fuel doors act up, but a little graphite in the key hole takes care of that. I guess someone will come up with a locking fuel door for the new body style sooner or later, once it becomes profitable.... Have a wonderful and save Holiday..

I noticed with my 2019 1500 if the tank is 3/4 or more full I have to stand there and fill it up.

2019 Limited. NEVER had ANY issues with fueling for over a year.
Now I find it IMPOSSIBLE to fill the tank. Initially thought the pump or pump nozzle was the issue. Went to TWO other stations and same problem. Tried having the pump handle vertical, horizontal, and every 5 degree position in between. Tried auto pump, manual pumping with high speed, slow speed, NOTHING WORKS. There MUST BE something wrong with the RAM fueling system. Way too many folks are having this problem. I'm 76 years old, have purchased a new vehicle every 3 years since I was 21 - NEVER had a vehicle with a fueling issue!

Your problem is most likely the rollover valve in the tank, it's meant to keep gas from pouring out if the vehicle flips over and makes it difficult to siphon fuel out.
Every manufacturer has issues with this, not exclusive to Ram. It not a huge issue but if I remember correctly the tank needs to be replaced as the assembly is not separate.

Apologies for the trouble, @Squeaks. If this is something you decide to address with your Ram dealer, we would be more than willing to escalate a case on your behalf to a specialist for further support through that process. Please do not hesitate to follow up via private message with any additional questions.

I have the same problem but it's only when at full flow from a fast flowing gas pump.
