I'm surprised the Matco worked. Others reported some time ago that it didn't have the threshold function anymore but maybe that was only on lower models.

when i updated the RF Hub frequency, it asked for the PIN. then it said it failed connection, retry again. did that a few times, each time asking for PIN. when it said the failed connection the third time, I just turned off the key and turned it back on. low behold, the light was turned off with no warnings. driven about 30 miles and it's still off.

Do you never entered the PIN?
