I was just wondering how many EcoDiesel owners are considering trading in for the new updated 2020 EcoDiesel? Supposedly has close to the same towing numbers the V8 now has and better MPG. Should we let the first year go and wait for the second year model and avoid the initial output mistakes? I'm thinking the first year rule is out the window since the EcoDiesel is not a completely new first year model.

Don't get me wrong. I love my truck too. I am just concerned about the towing capacity. I have a travel trailer that is right at the limit of the current trucks tow capacity.

Maybe if I had a 15 that was giving me issues, but as it is, I have had zero problems with my 18 and I love it.

I have never been the first adopter, generally I wait a while just to make sure major bugs are vetted.
Unlike other diesels modern ones have at least a good testing bed prior to release. As the VM Motori Ecodiesel has been through several generations, the chance of a major issue is small, but with the changes there might be a recall or two.

(the one time I was an early adopter I got burned, I preordered a 2011 VW Golf TDI, because of issues and offers from VW, got issue with driving 30 MPH and snowballed through a turbo and main computer replacement twice. I found the cylinder 3 hard line issue before it was a recall, it caused a misfire, then software update put computer in LIMP mode when it ran a regen)

I made the jump because fuel economy dropped drastically when towing with the 5.7. It definitely limited the distance we could afford to tow. I am seeing almost doubled fuel economy and pulls as good as the 5.7
You have a 2020 EcoDiesel?

When I got my 15 ED it was to be my last truck. Now at 90k and a new motor at 60k plus rebate from law suit. I will keep mine till one of us dies.

I'm tempted too, I keep looking at the Rebel with the eco-diesel.
Mainly the Rebel for the transfer case, I have the Big Horn now and didn't know what type of
transfer case it had till it wasn't working right for me.
But I don't see power fold towing mirrors and that is a feature I'd like.

Just got my new 2020 RAM 1500 Ecodiesel Night Edition on Tuesday after 9 weeks (ordered 10/4/19). Love it!!!

Did you go from an earlier model EcoD? If so, what differences do you note? MPGs? Looks great!

JohnnyMac, I did't have a previous EcoD, I had a Durango RT which was amazing but I needed a truck to pull a new RV and figured I couldn't beat the towing capability and the better gas mileage than my Durango RT. With 700 miles on it, my combined mpg is 24.7...hit as high as 29.6 on the highway.

Picked up my 2020 G3 Eco and have about 250 miles on her. Quietest smoker I’ve ever ridden in. 4x4 with 3.92’s and I’m averaging about 23-24 combined on my first tank. I’d like to level her out but I don’t want to give up any economy.

With my 70 mile round trip I am tempted to do something stupid. If they happen to have a 2020 Eco Diesel equipped like my 19 Hemi I would be very tempted. Right now, because I drive way to fast, I am only averaging about 18 or so on the highway.

I'll most likely keep what I've got thought because I've got it just the way I like it.
