You'll be shocked when you see the cost to replace the screen, ask the vendor if they have another unit that they would be willing to swap with.

I was able to find a radio with nav from car-parts.com for 450 with I thought was a decent price. But when the radio came the screen is messed up with scratches and small chips on the screen and the screen has this weird worn out area right in the middle. Does anyone know how much a replacement screen would cost and where to find one? Or should I just send the radio back and get my money back and look for a different one?

Here's what I found. Personally I'd return it or see if they would refund some of the money to pay for the repair parts. I found a UAQ not too long ago that the yard said had a scuffed screen but from the picture they sent it didn't look so bad (see picture, they wanted $600)

Is it a UAS or UAQ? I might be interested.

Got mine installed and can now use media outlet in center console to use car play. However is there a way to swap media outlet with the 115v outlet in the dash?

Cheapest I have found a screen is like to 280.00 it is the screen and digitizer I don't think they're separate like on a ra4.I found some direct from china for under 200.00 but the chances of it getting to USA in one piece wouldn't be that great and it would sucks if it didn't work.the Panasonic screens scratch 10 times easier than a ra4.

Woahhhh that's some coin. You could buy another unit for that money. Yes return if not happy.

Try cleaning the screen with isopropyl alcohol. I use electronic grade which is 99.995% pure but household rubbing alcohol will work also.
If you clean your smart phone with the stuff every couple of months you'll be shocked how dirty they get.

Another question. I have a couple of broken Fakra PCB connectors on the radio side. Does anyone know how these are installed/removed? I found a pack of unkeyed replacements but I have no idea how the old ones come off and how the new ones go on...I was thinking about just taking the ones off my RA4 and placing them on the UAS if that's possible?

Almost impossible to get them off without breaking the tabs that hold them on.i have had luck getting them off and putting them on with a little epoxy.just don't get any in the cylinder or it will get in the plug on the board.be extremely carefully when you use anything to wipe a Panasonic screen if you rub to hard it's almost like the finish comes off.

You need to use fakra pigtail smb adapters. (I've tried finding a matching connector to transfer the plastic lock from without success).

I think I have links in the original 8.4 upgrade or the FW info threads...

Edit: found it ...

I tried cleaning the screen no luck. It worked well for a while after pulling the fuse and letting everything reset, but just as I was about to call it good it began again.

Are there any firmware files for download on the 2019 UAx radios? Drive Connect says the radio is up to date so I can't get the firmware files. I'd like to try to flash the firmware again.

Well I'm a little bummed right now. The UAS is currently randomly pressing buttons on screen by itself. This behavior just started on its own. If the screen were bad I would have expected this to occur sooner but who knows...I can't try a firmware update because these newer radios do not allow the same firmware to be re-applied (dumb, dumb, dumb)...

I've disassembled the screen to try and re-seat all of the ribbon cables going to the touchscreen. I did remove one small shard of glass (likely from the accident that made this radio available). I suppose it's possible that glass was causing some random touch information to be registered by the screen (but I doubt it). In addition, there was a light coat of an oily substance (possibly antifreeze) on the radio and even on some of the internal components. I'm hoping a quick application of electronics cleaner may get rid of any shorting caused by the oily substance?

On another note, if it hasn't been mentioned before the new dual USB hub is backwards compatible with the older 8.4 Radios (VP4/RA4).

If anyone has seen this behavior before or knows of any tricks, I'm all ears. Otherwise, I'll be calling the yard I got it from to return it...

That is a really good price. I wonder what the quality is compared to the originals.

I'll post up if it works as I just bought it...I spoke to the yard I bought mine from first to make sure they will let me return it still if the replacement screen doesn't work (they will, awesome guys). I won't have an update until the screen gets here from China around the end of the month though...wish me luck.

If your radio is from a 19 classic (same PN as 2018) then I do have some USA RAM UAQ and UAS FW files linked in my 8.4 fw info thread.
