DO NOT I REPEAT DO EVER BUY A RAM ECODIESEL. I have been a loyal ram owner for over 20 years and bought this 54k dollar piece of garbage last year. It has been in the repair shop 6x now for the same issue. I have 3 open cases with FCA and nobody not even arbitration will do anything. The answer is i haven't been inconvenienced enough. Lol. I wander what is inconvenienced enough???? Just an fyi if live in New Jersey just go lemon law caus the NCDS is paid by mopar and are useless and the dealership..performance dodge just ran away from it all...and FCA won't let you talk to anyone past a low level operator .

Sorry to hear about that on your first post. I have a 2018 EcoD that I've owned for about 14 months and it's been nothing but awesome. Not a problem one. You must have got the Friday afternoon built model. Good luck getting it taken care of. I hope they finally treat you right.

All the people on here that are having issues are actually making me a bit nervous.
I like my truck, I'm at 78,000 mostly trouble free miles and am desiring to keep this truck till 150,000 or so.
Then I think back before the internet and these forums, without these how many people would have heard of these issues.
That is both good and bad in my mind.
Sorry the original poster is having issues, which he didn't post.
Even though a diesel may not be the best choice for me and the driving that I do now days I'm still glad I bought one,
and I certainly hope I continue to feel this way.

If all the many thousands of good truck experiences could be posted, and also the trucks with issues I believe you could probably scroll for hours on end and come across very few bad experiences overall. That doesn't make anyone suffer any less if they are the ones with the bad issues of course. All my opinion of course.

I have a 2016 that I love. The only problems we've had are recalls and all truck manufacturers have recalls. I will be buying the 2020 EcoDiesel for the added towing power. I hope I don't end up with bad luck or a "Friday made" truck. I would not own any other new truck.

There is a ton of great info and knowledge on this forum. Maybe stating your issue would net you a possible fix ??

He's not interested in a fix, typical complaining idiot. The first clue is when they state either "Don't buy" or "I'm never buying another" then fill in the blank with the make, model, etc.
Any time I start reading about multiple returning failures, it's a problem with the servicing dealer, this goes for any vehicle.
There was one owner that the dealer was putting a third set of injectors in his truck and his post was similar to the OP. Once it was explained to him the dealer was an idiot for putting that many injectors into a a diesel, he took it to another dealer who fixed the actual problem. It's one thing to lose a diesel injector, if it's an entire set there is a bigger problem and when it gets to multiple sets the mechanic is probably an idiot. One diesel injector cost in the ballpark of a set of 8 Hemi injectors.

forums are full of first time posters doing nothing but complaining, but that’s usually what most do on forums, not many feel the need to come and sit down to write a post about how their truck hasn’t had any issues and they love it because it’s just not a priority. Emotions, especially anger are a powerful thing, they make people do weird stuff.

Ive owned a 2017 ED for 19 months, 37,000 miles on it, and the only issue I had was turbo underboost code early on, but I did some changes to it and haven’t had any other issue since. Love my truck and continue to hope it lasts me a long time. Don’t sweat the squawking from the pessimists.

Probably why I stick with the Hemi... it’s been well tested. New engine options always scare me.. your usually the test mule until it’s been out several years to make adjust and fixes. I would try another dealer.

What is the issue they cannot repair after 6 trips?
Have you tried a different service shop or dealer?
(had similar issues with a VW, my issue was rough idle/loping and no power, top speed 40 MPH(45 MPH with traction control off), it was later found that the turbo was bad and the fuel line was wrong (national recall), I got a newer car out of the deal, I took the car to three different dealers in attempts to get it fixed)

When someone comes on and dumps on a vehicle with one post never to return I take that post with a grain of salt. Didn't say what the actual problems were.... go figure...

IDK guys. Have you spend anytime scrolling over at the Ram 1500 diesel forum? It's the most depressing auto forum I've ever seen! The 4th gen 1500's with EcoD's seem to be a mess. Hope FCA got it right with the 2020. I've considering the EcoD several times but the upset owner's on the other forum convinced me otherwise. Latest big problem is trucks catching fire and literally burning to the ground due to melting EGR. Not saying the OP isn't trolling or there aren't happy EcoD owners out there; just saying the gas 4th gens seem to be much more reliable. I wonder if the new 3 liter Duramax and Powerstroke motors will have similar issues?
