I was that guy that hated the look of them too. Then I got married. Installed tubes to limit the amount of struggle noise from the passenger side. Then I had kids. Bought a new truck. Didn’t want chrome bars from factory because they can be slippery putting your child in the seat. So I took a gamble and had Luverne side entry steps in black installed. They are awesome!! Tuck up tight to the body, heavy duty and they protect the heck out of the lower portion of the truck. No gaps between the truck and the step either for little legs to slide in between. The whole bottom portion of the truck is black and my wheels are gunmetal so they blend right in.

Got mine for wife and seat wear from sliding off the seat edge. They make it possible for grand children to get in and out without needing a lift

And if someone doesn't like it that's fine with me as it is MY TRUCK :O
So my boards make my RAM not a truck ?? :O
Always cracks me up when people try and type cast a group :O Like we had a guy in my Motorcycle group who was a bit of a ass ! He said were bikers :O FYI he ride a Honda like most of us and thinks being a biker is being a bad ass lol

If you live where there is snow and salt, stay away from N-Fab ... Their black powdercoating sucks ... Didn’t last a year here in Ohio

The wife insisted. She really can't climb in at our age. I mostly step over them. I had the nerfs on my 13 and they did a real number on the Prius that side-swiped me in 2016. Never touched my paint and didn't hurt the steps either. But really, for us older folks it's not a choice.

I've been weighing on buying running boards for the truck. The thing is why buy them? My truck is actually a little high to get in but isn't that the point of having a truck to have that clearance. I don't want to lower it 5" just because it's a little too high. that was the whole point of getting a truck and like the feeling of actually getting in. I'm just wondering if the wear on the seat sliding out. Why did you get them?

Groin Pulls?

about 50 when I got my first one, getting into my 1999 2500 4X4 with no boards.
COntributing factor to my upgradinga couple years later to a 1500 and boards.
2500 had boards but they had rusted away.

I bought mine so I don't scrape across the seat as much getting in, causing premature wear on the leather. Also, you never know when a passenger, especially a female, will need it on the other side.

I had to replace the bottom seat cover on the driver's side due to sliding out repeatedly over the years. I found the seat cover at a site called the seat shop, got new bottom pad and cover. Perfect match for the original cover. Now I have nerf bars on the truck to keep from ruining the seat cover again.

The height mainly, I am short myself - a little hopping in wouldn't have bothered me. However, my wife is even shorter than I am - she said she didn't like the truck because she had to climb in it. I ordered some budget nerf bars and that solved the problem for her. Plus my grandma and grandpa can get into the truck without additional help as well.

One day when I get some extra change I am going to get the fold away nerf bars.

Another reason for running bords or steps is not Ruining your seat bolsters when you slide out of your truck

That was mentioned a number of times already ... But yes ...

When I first got the truck....my wife had difficulty getting in....then I unlocked and opened the door....she still struggled so I installed running boards. She seems a little happier but that won't last long. Hope she never wants to drive my RAM!

Just put the board only on the passenger side, that should help. ;)

I really didn't appreciate mine until I got in a truck without them. I'm 53 and I got bad knees, a bad back, and bad legs overall from all the Athletics in my youth. They really do make a difference on how easy it is to get in the truck. I honestly couldn't do without them with the shape my body's in so it's kind of a must for me. The hell what other people think I got to have them.

Didn’t want em, but have little girls so I had to get them. If I had it to do over again I’d get Amp retractable ones, but I’m still in shock over the initial cost of buying the truck so I got Black horse Armour steps. Pretty cool looking, I like em .
