Hey Boys, I thought there was a thread discussing this but couldn't find it so thought I'd ask the question for myself.

What are everyone's thoughts on the best quality aftermarket rim brands currently out there? I'm concerned with how durable the rims hold up to the elements like winter/salt.

I'm happy with the quality of my XD Rockstar II's but have never subjected them to the winter months. I've read on other forums that the black Rockstars fair pretty well in winter/salt conditions but not so much their machined aluminum and chrome versions.

I've also read on this forum and others that their are members who aren't overly impressed with the Fuel line of rims and wanted to confirm with RAM forum members what their impressions of FUEL are.

I'm just planning ahead for when the time comes to trade my 4th Gen in on the 5th Gen. I'll be looking at an all black (gloss or satin finish) rim. I don't want any machined or chrome parts because I know I'll fair better with black for the winter/salt wear and don't want to run two sets of rims/tires.

I have hostile wheels and I’m very happy. I also ceramic coated them prior to install with Adams polishes coating. Love it.

I ran my XD Addict wheels on two different trucks full time and they held up well.

They now grace a friend of mine's 2500. He loves 'em.

If using in winter I would suggest an all black wheels. I plan on getting Mickey Thompson classics in black when I get some money. Unless you really take care of them any wheel will look like crap if the conditions are ripe for corrosion. At least painted will help a little.

Honestly I don’t think brands mean all that much when uh comes to trucks. Unless you’re looking for performance (lightweight etc) it’s redundant in a truck. Pick the style you want and like and what fits your budget and taste. If using in harsh conditions keep as clean as possible and hope for the best or switch to winters when the weather turns crap

Keep the factories, and put some serious snows on them ... Buy aftermarket, and run them the nice months ... That’s what I do here in Ohio ... Winter road treatments are harsh on wheels, no matter what you buy

Ive ran Method Race wheels year round on my old daily and they held up great. The new owner is still running them and they still look perfect.

Safest bet is not to use aftermarket chrome wheels in the winter. The chrome never holds up.

I stay away from Fuel and Moto ... my opinion on these is overpriced and poor customer service. Been in and around the wheel business for many years and all it takes is bad customer service when you pay a lot of money for your wheels to convince me to stay away.

Currently I have RBPs and their customer service has been great ... Like others have said, depends more so on where you live and what kind of elements your wheels are going to be going up against, every wheel brand can be good or bad, if they are still around they are around for a reason.

Just get what you like but understand what your surroundings are like.

I've had my Xtreme Mudder chrome wheels installed for about 6 months (maybe 2500 miles) and the chrome is already starting to pit. They weren't overly expensive but still have a warranty. I'll be submitting a complaint once I'm back home for a while and won't be going this direction again....

Awesome information guys...thanks. I'll have to have a look at some of these wheel brands.

Bowers, you mentioned just going with OEM for winter. That's what I currently do, but in the next year or so I'll be retiring and won't need to use the truck to commute to work. With that in mind, I'm thinking I just want one set of black aftermarket rims and big tires like my STT Pro's....just for the convenience.

Oh, if you’re retired, then you got all the time in the world to wash your wheels every nite ... Just make sure the garage is heated, and the fridge is full of beer ... Lol !!!

Had Fuel Boost PVD finish on my old F150. Looked good but the finish was peeling off after first winter. Fuel was easy enough to work with. Explained I got the PVD cuz it was supposed to hold up in winter. Asked since they where under warranty if they would swap to the black rim with machined edge and they said returns would have to go through the place I purchased them but they gave me a claim number and said as long as place I bought em was willing to send em back they would replace with what I wanted. They even shipped new ones to my door so I could use those boxes to return old ones.

So I wouldn’t recommend PVD finish but Fuel wheels were easy to work with in my instance.

That being said. If I ever replace my Rebel rims with something it will 99% be Methods.
