How many miles on it? Could be loose steering or suspension part.

Just turned 40k miles. Had tires rotated before recent trip. Supposedly we’re balanced as well. I’ll look into it.

Don't assume that the tires were balanced; lots of places will do a rotate without a balance, which in my humble opinion, is idiotic and extremely lazy. You've got the tire off - how hard is it to put it on a machine and press a button, for God's sake!

Honestly I don’t know of many places that do a balance when doing a rotate. Technically there’s really no need to unless there is a issue or they were on vehicle balanced which isn’t all that common.

There’s also the additional cost that would be added to the cost of the rotation to do it, especially if you run into a issue balancing them and have to start force matching, or re-mounting tires. That can take awhile.

A tire tech had to put a couple of large truck weights a a tire of mine.A large weight slung off going down the road.Took it back and then they poured over half a cup full of water from tire. It balanced very easy.Imagine that!

Any chance it could have something to do with the 5.7 Hemi? I sure love that motor.

Did you retorque the lug nuts? Shops have become increasingly lazy when it comes to tightening lug nuts, especially after a tire rotation.

I'd look there too. I'm not sure what the torque specs are for a 1500 vs a 2500

Most shops also request the customer to return for a re-torque after having wheels removed. Most people never return for it though.

I had a vibration at right around 80 mph on my truck. I had new bridgstone tires from Firestone, with a lifetime rotation, balance and alignment. I was doing by brakes and noticed there were 16+ oz of weights on each of the wheels...

I brought it in and had them remove all the weights, rotate each of the tires 180* on the wheels, then rebalance. All 4 zero'ed out with less than 4 oz of weight.

They didn't want to do what I asked. I had them do 1, and if I was wrong, they were free to stop. But after the first one with 18 oz of weight dropped down to 3 oz they had no leg to stand on.

Whoever mounted and balanced my tires at Firestone initially was lazy. When you are putting that much weight on a wheel it should have set up red flags.

Step one with that much weight, rotate the tire on the wheel, if that doesn't work, try another tire on that wheel, if that doesn't work, balance the wheel without the tire to see if the issue is the wheel.

Shops are getting lazy. Well, maybe lazy is the wrong word, they are being pushed to minimize the bay time to increase number of vehicles serviced. This is at the expense of doing good work...

Never had Pepboys or Tire Rack tell me to come back for retorquing, but I now do it myself after after tire removal

I agree 100%. I haven't bought any Goodyear tires in awhile but I remember having to explain to the tech about lining up the yellow dot with the valve stem to get the most optimum balance and he thought I was crazy. As I recall they also are supposed to do that with a Road force balance. For God sakes if you ever get a good balance on all four tires leave em alone. The concept of needing to rebalance tires at every rotation was a money making scam tire retailers came up with back in the 90's to keep people coming back in hopes of luring them into other purchases. Same goes for needing an alignment every time you buy tires. If you aren't having problems with steering or tire wear don't waste your time or your money.

Yeah.

Here in the NYC area, you really have to get your tires balanced and an alignment by schedule. We have terrible roads with potholes. Since we get lots of snow/ice between the freezing and the plows the pothole repairs only last a few days. Plus the volume of cars on our roads make it so it is almost impossible to keep up with road maintenance.

I always keep the alignment spec printouts, my alignment is off within every 6k miles.

I bought a used 2016 ram 30,000 miles from a dealer in Ankeny,Iowa
Had vibration at 80mph
Took it in
They said don’t drive 80
Put new set of tires and I got a bad tire
Now 2 problems
They said tire mfg said was typical noise
I call mfg myself and they said not typical
Sent me to a dealer and they replaced the tire, but they said the rim was bent
Bought new rim
Now all is good at 80
Dodge dealer will not work on my truck again
Sorry for long 1st post

Also, have alignment checked. I had the same problem and it was the alignment. Going off-road or hitting potholes and big bumps can knock it out little by little
