2012 1500 Limited with the 5.7 Hemi Hard First Start

I have a 2012 1500 Limited 4x4 equipped with the 5.7 Hemi which has 113,500 miles on it.

Recently, the truck is having problems turning over for the first start of the day. It cranks and cranks for about 5-10 seconds before it finally turns over. This only happens for the first start of the day, and then the rest of the day, it starts normally.

I just changed all 16 spark plugs, I had the starter and battery tested, both tested good. Any idea what the cause of this could be?

Not sure where it is in the Rams but there is a check valve somewhere in the fuel line that prevents the fuel line from draining back to the tank that is most likely going bad. I remember fixing that on my 2000 Jeep which was part of th fuel pump.

It may have a problem holding pressure, bleeding off. Try to turn on key for a few seconds at first start, give it 10 seconds, then see if it starts. It may take a second to get pressure back up.

If is the check valve which most likely is part of the pump, then no. My Jeep had the same exact symptom as your ram. Fine all day after the 1st hard start because it's a slow bleed down of the fuel line.

2012 270,000 miles just started doing hard start first start. What did you do to fix it?

Had this exact issue with my 2005 suburban. Was the fuel pump losing prime over night.
