when was new body style introduced, because my 2019 was built on 07/19. You have a 2019 as do I, but different front ends, well mine is a 1500 classic

If you have a classic that's 4th gen still on sale in 2019 and is DS designator. The DT designator is for 5th Gen body styles also made in 2019. Manufacture date has nothing to do with it. It's either new body style DT, or old body style DS.

Hell, this is confusing, so my 2019 built-in 2019 is a 4th gen, while your 2019 built-in 2019 is a 5th gen- can't they pull their head out of their fourth point of contact and make it simple. guess I'm in the wrong forum then.

Lol.. if your looking for 4th gen forum then yes wrong forum. I looked at your pic and your truck is definitely a 4th gen (DS). Ram needed to introduce the all new ram in 2019 to compete with gm and ford, but still had gobs of 4th gen trucks left to make, so there is a overlap on 2019 trucks of 4th gen and 5th gen. Issue corrected for 2020 as the swan song for the 4th gen is 2019 warlock edition. It has happened in the past before with other manufacturers having the overlap in new and old generations on sale in the same year. Hope I helped straighten it out for ya!!

Actually, the confusion will continue. From what I know, they are continuing to offer the classic for 2020, you can build one on rams website. Will certainly continue to help those sales numbers.

It's very easy to distinguish the 2. The DS looks like the front has looked for the past 8+ years. If does not look like it has for the past 8 plus years, it is the DT.

DS is now called the Ram Classic, from 2020 forward should have the IP badge of Classic on the side.
DT is the Ram 1500 (all new body style)
DT is the Ram 1500 (all new body style)

The 6th digit of the VIN will be 6(2WD) OR 7(4WD) for a DS, and an E(2WD) or F(4WD) for a DT.
