Okay, so has anybody actually figured out a use for the little side pockets on either side of the center
Console where the cup holders are? I tried putting some papers in there and it was hell retrieving them.

Yes. Several people, in the dozens of other threads about it. It becomes a veritable thread of “what junk do I put here.”

No not unless you have the full console.
Most folk that I know have converted it to a gun holster.

Edit: they've attached a holster to the useless waste of space.

If not, consider yourself blessed. They are a repository for crumbs, spilled coffee, and small important items that you really didn’t need to lose.

I have the cup holders and other “dish” area in front of them on the floor by the 4x4 shift lever. And the big fold up Center consul in the middle in the front seat.

Got to look for these pockets.

Yours dont have em. Neither does mine. Most common in the higher trim levels.

Good place for documents “in folders”. Papers alone are a pain to retrieve. I like to keep a map book in the passenger side, clip my portable radios to the drivers side.

They work awesome for capturing and holding potato chips, m&m's, cigarette ashes, dust, pennies and other loose change, and numerous other small, hard to retrieve items that are generally considered a pain in the ass when they rattle around down the road.

Also the number 1 thief of my cigarette lighter.

My wife uses the one on her side to put stuff in that she can ask me a week later where it is
That sounds pretty accurate. My wife thinks the sun visors are a file cabinet for the mail. Makes me mad. Just one of those pet peeves.

i don't have anything in mine. i like the clean look so cupholders and everything are empty. anything i need is stored out of sight in the console or glove compartment. my step-son has a 2018 Sierra and keeps his gun and holster in his side pocket there. very similar setup as the Ram. i'm left handed or i would probably keep my gun/hostler in there but i keep mine either on my hip or in my door pouch

I thought my wife was the only one with that habit! In her vehicle the visor is full of papers & in my truck she leaves the visor down! I don't know which one ****** me off the most.

These are useful for Maps and even your iPad, we travel extensively pulling our Airstream so they get used a lot. But do not drop your phone in one,
