I am changing the plugs on my truck. Boy what a job. The boots from the coil packs are stuck to the plugs and I have to dig each one out and that is a job. I am down to number 5&7. Plus I found that it had the stock plugs under the coil packs and a different plug in the other. Gap was .080 and .060. Should run much better. I am all so replacing all the coil packs.

Yep... not a fun job if they have never been done before. The ones under the brake booster are the worst.

I laid a shipping blanket across my motor and laid on that to get to the plugs.Wasnt too bad Didnt like the harness on passenger side in the way tho. The drivers side was ok with me.5.7 hemi is really sitting too far back into the truck tho.

My biggest problem was the boots from the coil packs were stuck to the plugs. They have not been off. I thing the plugs have never been changed.

I had one of the boots come off in the head. Took several shots of WD40 and a small pick to get it loose. The spring came out with it, but I reassembled it, and it's working find. Thought for a while I was going to have to replace the coil.

I found a medium size extension and a small extension worked best.

I had 7 boots stuck to the plugs. One came off with the coil pack. I had to us WD 40n and any tool to help get them out. Not fun but did it. All new plugs and coil packs. Stock Champion plugs and Standard packs. The truck runs great. For 226650 miles no signs of oil on any of the plugs.

226? Nice. I've got around 145K on mine and hoping to do at least that good. I didn't replace any of the coils. Thought about "upgrading" to the later model coils and the 100k interval plugs, but the price was more than I wanted to pay.

They where not hard just the stuck plug boots. I all so had tried the short plug wires but the truck did not like them. Not sure if want to try them again. It runs so good now.

A dab of antiseize on the threads and a little dielectric in the plug boots when you put everything back together. Everything will come apart much easier next time you change the plugs Booms.

I plan on putting NGK 5306 LZTR4A-11 plugs in mine next go around, which should be this coming summer. I really don't like Champion Plugs to begin with and only bought them because I needed something now.

My truck only has 20,000 miles on it. Hopefully they won't be to bad. I'm only changing them because, well, Whipple... :)

Believe it or not vehicles are programmed to using a certain kind of plug not just a certain heat range.Installing a plug that it's not programmed for can actually have adverse affects.I would stick with the it was designed for.

No offense but a computer doesnt know what plug you put in a vehicle. Its the composition of the plug that makes a difference. Copper vs Irridium etc. Dodge cars, trucks etc seem to "like" copper plugs more due to the fact that the spark may be hotter than another kind

Before you take the plug out of the engine >>make sure you take a air hose and blow all the road dirt out of the spark plug hole, because it will all fall into the block >>not good

I'm afraid it does.Things like fuel mapping, timing etc... are set to work properly with the proper equipment. You can get away with mix and matching but there's a good chance it won't work as designed.
