In my area, my Ram's satellite radio occasionally cuts out. I've had sat radio in my cars since 2002, so I know about trees, buildings, etc... but where this is happening, NOTHING is blocking my view of the sky for reception.

It is consistently in the same places. My wife's car has it also, but hers does NOT cut out in those same spots.

Anything IN the truck that may be causing the perfect alignment of interference I could check?

I sure wish I knew the answer to this one. My 2017 has the same problem. I've had Sirius in probably 8-9 vehicles, and have never had it cut out like this. And there is one intersection in town where I live, completely open (huge intersection, 5 lanes on each road, not a tree anywhere near the intersection) and it cuts out every single time I come to it, no matter the direction. I've lived in this town all of my life, and lived about 1/2 mile from this intersection for 8 years, and not a single other vehicle has ever cut out there.

Same here with my 2015. It’s extremely annoying!

Recently bought a 17 2500 CTD and this has been my only issue. Sirius cuts out to the point if being unusable at times. I bought a service manual subscription to get all the diagrams and will probably be checking the connections. Really frustrating. My other vehicles don’t cut out so it’s definitely an antenna issue or radio issue.

I think it's something in the programming on the 8.4 not buffering enough data.
I've never had an issue with an aftermarket deck, but both my F150 and my work truck have had issues, just like mentioned above. Specific spots in town(s) that it just don't work.

Here's the kicker, it doesn't seem to be the same on the F150 and the Ram. ?!?!

Fortunately for me, I do a whole lot of open road driving, so even if it's annoying AF around town, man it's nice the other 85% of the time.

Probably irrelevant as you stated it doesnt cut out in other vehicles, Ive only had Sat radio in 2 vehicles, they would always cut out when driving a concentration of power poles.

It's the cell towers, mines done it from day one- if you look around you will be dead lined up with the facing direction of a tower. I now know where every tower is within 20 miles of my home- it’s like they scramble it. As soon as you pass a certain distance it comes back- makes it hard to justify the subscription when it craps out all the time. It’s only certain towers- I can park under some with no issue, others I can paint out the deadline for em.

I'm going to chime in here, but my issue is related to android auto. If I plug my phone in AA will pop up and cut out my SXM on initial connection and randomly while driving. BUT it won't autoplay pandora/spotify/etc as I have autoplay disabled. I have to tap the radio button to get SXM back.

If I leave my phone disconnected (bluetooth enabled still) SXM behaves.

Doesn't matter if you have clear sky view or not, most of the time you are receiving your signal from terrestrial repeaters. Sirius/xm only has 3 satalite in orbit, then a network of repeaters on the ground. They publish a map online of the repeater network. That's how you can receive sat radio in FB ities with lots of tall buildings, otherwise, there would be almost zero chance of getting a signal.

I get the same in certain parts of the NE in Calgary and when I'm on Yankee BLVD in Airdrie headed west just passed the highway overpass. Very frustrating...... It doesn't happen in my wife's '18 Jeep Cherokee. Go figure.

I live in Airdrie, and have never had any issues with Sirius cutting in and out, there's the odd spot in the mountains where it'll cut out ,but i've never had any issues with it in Airdrie or the city though.

I may have to check my connection on the back of my head unit and have Sirius resend the signal. I had the same issue in my '11 Sport as well. Thanks

Hi Laura,
It's not a Sirius issue. I believe this is my 9th or 10th vehicle to have Sirius, and I have never experienced this. Multiple different OEM radios with Sirius, and multiple aftermarket units with Sirius. The Ram is the only one with the issue, and it seems I am not alone. So, to answer your question, no I have not, because I do not believe it to be a Sirius issue, I believe it to be a Ram issue.

I'm not sure, but you might have a differant 8.4 then my 14 has,as somewhere around 17 or 18 FCA changed suppliers for the radio, and it seems like the newer (i think Panasonic) versions have more issues.I know it's fairly common on the Charger/Challenger pages for the newer style head units to give trouble.

Hello Alison and thank you for reaching out, my 3 year/60km warranty was up in June so I don't know what can be done at this point in time. My truck only has 57k on it and is in near new condition-still.
