I believe Linkswell is about to offer it too. I doubt either will tell you the source though. Linkswell's is likely delayed for a bit of polish before releasing...

I asked linkswell 3 times when they will release a 12 inch for the 4th gen and he assured me it won't happen because the dash has to be reconfigured. Even after Phoenix released their unit. Last time i asked was a week ago with same response because i had a friend ask about mine. So far i am having luck getting response from Phoenix. I have a couple issues they are trying to work out but nothing stopping me from liking the radio

So after about a year and half of following this thread and going back and forth on buying one, I bought the 12.1" from Phoenix (pray for me) on Friday. I'll keep you updated when I get it and figure out what is or isn't working.

I see, I guess they were only speaking of the PX6 when they were discussing releasing a new unit. Thanks for the info!

So today I came across of a Facebook group that provides a custom firmware for the Tesla units. It is a dream and I love it so far. Many different options to customize and over 30 different themes to choose from. No more ugly stock version. Can remove the top and bottom bars, set the unit to how you like it.

Yes he is. Is that a good or bad thing? Lol
I think I know who it is. All of the features are ones I know are in his firmware. He's helped me out quite a few times on XDA...

If it’s the same guy he is awesome. Definitely unlocked the potential of the radio and addressed a lot of quirks

Tesla Style. Firmware and HeadUnits. Tell him I sent ya over!
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's ShIvaDest. Good guy, very responsive and he often will add a custom feature if you buy his firmware if you want something to work a specific way.

Buying his firmware is totally worth it. He is very responsive and will work out any issue to his ability. He has a list of changes coming in the near future. Definitely Recommended!

Guys - deepest apologies if this has been mentioned in this long thread. I found the Tesla style is available for a 2010 but is it reliable? Seems like there have been a lot of bugy issues. You guys think they finally have it worked out or is there a better unit?
Don't use U-Connect really, but have Sirius. Want CarPlay and a better picture image for the backup camera along with improved functionality, for a 2010 3500 Laramie.
Thanks much!
Steve

I think it’s a roll of the dice to be honest , some have had success and others not . If your going to do it up your chances of success and stay away for Phoenix .
They might be a bit better then they used to be as it does seem they have changed hands a bit and do have some new folks on support but I would stay away if it was me .

Thanks for the advice Jordan! It's hard to tell if companies are good or terrible these days so it's helpful to have feedback!
Cheers,
Steve

This literally has nothing to do with tesla style radio but I'm having a serious issue and need all hands on deck.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. As not to mess up this thread please post all comments on my YouTube channel. I seriously honestly appreciate all of you. Thank you for your support.

Not 100% certain, but I'm leaning toward a collapsed lifter roller. The tick is the yoke of the lifter banging off the cam. If you get it in soon enough you can replace the lifters only. If it's too far along, you are replacing the lifters and cam as the cam will be slowly shredded up by the lifter yoke.
I did mine last year (lifters) and was lucky enough to not have any cam damage. The lifters on cylinders 1 and 6 were going, so I just did them all. Mine also had the old cracked manifold bolts as well, so it was a knock mixed with a slight whistle. Sounded like a bunch of sparrows started a fight club in my engine compartment. In the end it cost around $6000 Canadian pesos to fix it.

A decent crate engine is nearly $12000 in the great white north, so repair was my only real option if I wanted to keep the truck (which I did).

It's a really hard one to diagnose as the knocking sound bounces and reverbs off of nearly anything in the engine compartment.
Stething it usually doesn't help.

Make a deal with your garage tech, get him to open it up and inspect the lifters and cam, if they are buggered, replace em, if not you will still have to pony up on the hours of diagnostic.

Trying to sell a truck with that noise is pretty well fruitless unless you want to let it go for a song.

Hope any of this helps.
